One of the things I’ve learned as a small business owner is just how important it is to have people in your corner — people who genuinely want to see you succeed, grow, and keep going.

I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to work together and bring more Aunt Cake’s goodies to the community we both call home. 🥰

Everybody, meet Aunt Cake’s Bakery a local baker, new mother, and small business right here in the heart of Columbia! ❤️

This week begins a brand new partnership between Home Goodies & Coffee and Aunt Cake’s Bakery!

Because of the overwhelming amount of support we’ve received from all of YOU, our hands have become tied up in so many different parts of the business that we can no longer handle our entire bakery section on our own.

And honestly… what an AMAZING problem to have. 🥹❤️

That’s where Aunt Cake’s comes in!

Six years ago, we started Home Goodies right here in this town with a dream. We could only imagine being where we are today, and Columbia is the community that helped make it happen.

Our goal has never been to create enemies or look at every other small business as competition. Our goal is to build WITH our community.

We want to support the people around us. We want to support other small businesses. We want to keep as many of our dollars LOCAL as we possibly can.

🥛 Our milk comes from a local dairy.
🧁 Now more of our baked goods will come from a local baker.
🏡 And we’ll continue looking for ways to support the businesses and people who call this area home.

THIS is what it’s all about.

Home Goodies isn’t here to build an empire by ourselves.

WE’RE HERE TO BUILD AN ARMY. 💪❤️

An army of small businesses, neighbors, customers, families, and people who LOVE this community and want to watch Columbia flourish.

INTRODUCING THE AUNT CAKE’S BIRTHDAY WISHES PROJECT

Because every kid deserves a cake on their birthday.🎈

We saw this idea from another bakery and felt inspired from this and because we actually are doing a cake for someone this weekend under similar conditions.🫶

Birthdays are supposed to be exciting. But sometimes, when a family is going through a difficult season financially, even something as simple as a birthday cake can be one more expense they’re trying to figure out.

We want to help change that.

We’re starting the Aunt Cake’s Birthday Wishes Project, a community-sponsored program that will provide birthday cakes to local children whose families may not otherwise be able to afford one.

And we’re asking our amazing community to help us make it happen!

❤️ HOW SPONSORING WORKS

🎈 $10 — Contribute toward a birthday cake
🎂 $40— Sponsor one child’s birthday cake
🎉 $200 — Sponsor FIVE birthday cakes

Individuals, families and local businesses are all welcome to sponsor.

Your sponsorship pays Aunt Cake’s to create a special birthday cake for a local child. Aunt Cake’s will also contribute toward the cost so we can provide something EXTRA special for each birthday kiddo. ❤️

Each sponsored birthday cake will include:

A 6” birthday cake
Choice of vanilla/confetti or chocolate cake
A selection of fun designs/themes
The child’s name & age
Birthday candles
A special birthday card from Aunt Cake’s

Families receiving cakes will NEVER be required to publicly identify themselves, take photos, make a social media post or meet their sponsor.

Their privacy matters to us.

They’ll simply order their cake, choose their options and pick it up from Aunt Cake’s like any other birthday order. ❤️ We will take pictures and post like we usually do and ensure your privacy is respected.

🎈 NEED A BIRTHDAY CAKE?

Parents and guardians experiencing financial hardship will be able to submit a private Birthday Wish request.

We will not require proof of income. We simply ask that this program be reserved for families who would genuinely have difficulty purchasing a birthday cake otherwise.

Each child may receive one sponsored birthday cake per year, and requests will be fulfilled based on available sponsorships and bakery availability.

❤️ WANT TO BECOME A BIRTHDAY HERO?

You can sponsor one birthday, contribute toward one, sponsor several, or even become an ongoing community partner.

Businesses and individuals who sponsor will have the option to be recognized on our social media — or remain completely anonymous.

And each month, we’ll share our community’s impact:

🎈 Children Celebrated
❤️ Birthday Heroes who made it possible

We will NEVER publicly identify the children or families receiving assistance.

Imagine being able to say:

“This month, our community made sure 10 local kids had a cake to blow candles out on.”

That’s what we want to build.

A little kindness.

A little community.

And a whole lot of birthday cake. 🎂❤️

Supervisor Mila was working on our weekly safety audit a few weeks ago.
Let’s just say, she’s staying out of the cubbies. We did not pass her inspection.

*No babies were harmed.
