To Our Valued Colonial Beach Community,​

It is with a heavy heart that we announce Big Al's Doughnuts and Bake Shop will not be opening its doors. We began this journey in February, filled with excitement about bringing delicious, made-from-scratch doughnuts, breads, pastries, and more to Colonial Beach. We envisioned opening in early Spring, and your overwhelming enthusiasm for a real bakery in town fueled our ambition.

Unfortunately, the renovation process presented us with numerous delays and unforeseen challenges. As a Christian family, we believe in trusting God's guidance. After much prayerful consideration, it has become clear that opening Big Al's at this time is not what He has planned for us.

We are truly heartbroken. The warm welcome and supportive messages we received touched us deeply. We appreciate your excitement for Big Al's and understand the disappointment this news brings.

While our bakery journey may be on hold for now, we believe in finding the good in every situation. We leave you with a friendly reminder from Big Al's: ​"Eat More Hole Foods!" 🍩🍩🍩🍩

Hey Big Al's fam! We've been FLOORED by your amazing comments, DMs, and doughnut devotion for Big Al's! Seriously, your ideas are the sprinkles on top of our delicious dream!

While we're busy getting the bakery ship-shape (think fresh paint, beach vibes, and happy ovens!), just know we're CRAVING the day we will fill the Beach with the irresistible aroma of scratch-made doughnuts, buns, warm loaves of bread, fresh brewed coffee, cappuccino, espresso, soda and even MORE treats we can't wait to reveal!

Here's the sweet scoop: Big Al's will be open 7 days a week, ALL YEAR ROUND! We love our year-round residents! That's right, when you get a hankering for a doughnut and coffee on Monday or Tuesday, we'll be right here waiting for ya! We're bringing back the magic of fresh-baked goodness, just like Granddad and Mamaw did at the legendary Colonial Doughnut Shoppe from the 1960's thru early 1980's, right here in Colonial Beach.

Opening a bakery is like a cake you gotta bake just right, so it takes a little time! We want to serve you 7 days a week, and that means getting everything perfect from the get-go.

Keep your eyes peeled on this page for all the latest updates. We'll be spilling the beans (or should we say doughnut holes?) on our grand opening date, plus some exciting job openings we'll be filling soon!

Hey everyone! This is Stephy, co-owner of Big Al's. My husband Bart and I just want to touch base to let you know we are experiencing a few delays with our opening. We have been on travel in search of a great cup of Joe—we refuse to use cafeteria or industrial grade coffee! Our goal is to offer beverages that will pair perfectly with our delicious made-from-scratch doughnuts, pastries, and breads.

As many of you know, Bart comes from a long line of bakers. We have been perfecting old recipes, as well as working on new and amazing flavor creations. It has been so much fun, but also very time consuming. We will only provide the absolute best for our Colonial Beach and extended Big Al's families! Stay tuned to our page for the latest updates!
