I thought it would be fun to start sharing one personal story or little piece of myself with you each week—not because my life is particularly exciting 😅, but because I think getting to know the person behind a small business makes supporting local even more meaningful. ☺️💕
🥐Behind the Baker (Part 1)
When my family moved to Utah, I knew it would be a challenge to adjust. It was my first time moving out of state, away from all of my family, with no friends or established community here.
It took time to adapt to a new place, meet new people, and build a life that truly felt like home.
Starting a home bakery had always been on my mind and in my heart, but I never pursued it because I convinced myself the market was already too saturated and I felt like I didn’t have time to add something else to my busy schedule. 😅
I also kept telling myself,
"There are already so many talented home bakers with years of loyal customers and strong communities around them."
I felt like I didn't stand a chance—especially without a community, family, or lifelong friends here to cheer me on.
But one day, I decided I wasn't going to let fear or excuses stop me from trying anymore... even if the only people cheering me on were my husband and kids. 😂❤️
I spent a lot of time carefully and intentionally planning what I wanted Sweet Moments to be. Of course, I love baking sourdough bread (and I make it regularly for my own family!), but I didn't want to compete by doing exactly what everyone else was doing. I wanted to create unique desserts and flavors that people couldn't easily find elsewhere.
So that's what I set out to do.
It's been incredibly rewarding to watch people get excited about my treats and support something that started as just a dream. I’ve always been a very creative person and I'm always challenging myself to come up with new treats and new ways to make Sweet Moments special. 😊
Every week, little by little, you've reminded me that community isn't something you simply have—it's something you build.
One conversation.
One order.
One recommendation.
One act of kindness at a time.
I truly can't thank you enough for showing up for me, supporting my little bakery, and giving me a chance. It means more than you'll ever know. 💕
