Well, my sweet friends… apparently half my butter tarts decided that my triumphant return to baking needed a little character development. 😂😭 I was SO excited to get back into my kitchen and make these for you guys, and naturally, because baking enjoys keeping me humble, about HALF of today’s batch has decided to choose violence.
The filling? Delicious.
The pastry? She's a little soft.
They are completely edible and still taste good, but they are absolutely NOT the butter tart pastry texture I want to put my name on. And honestly, I’m a little sad about it. I really wanted my first bake back to be perfect, and instead my butter tarts said, "Not a chance, fool!” 😂
So rather than waste them, I’m going to offer the wonky ones by DONATION. ❤️
If you don't mind a butter tart with a little ✨personality✨ and would like to rescue one from its tragic fate, these are for you. I did try to resuscitate them by giving them a good old fashioned rebake, but, alas, still soft pastry.
I promise I still know how to bake. Probably. Maybe. 😂
