More than just bread today, friends! Something I’m pretty passionate about- herbs and natural remedies. Our ancestors had an abundance of useful things stowed away in their root cellars. Most likely something you have in your kitchen today!
🦟It’s summer time which means the bugs are out. For us, it’s almost always fire ants! The few others could be wasps, bees, even mosquitoes. For the longest time I ran for a medicine cabinet stocked full of sprays and creams. Until, I discovered the best remedy is in my kitchen. Soothing, cooling, and naturally draws out the itching and swelling! Yep, it’s a potato and chances are it’s in your kitchen too.
🥔Potato poltice ‘how to’:
Grate, slice, or peel a potato. Place the cut potato on top of affected area. Gently wrap in a cotton cloth, gauze, or clean dish towel! You’ll want to find a way to secure it. Leave on for 20ish minutes or overnight for best results.
Probably don’t use this home remedy if you’re allergic to potatoes, and certainly don’t place it on open wounds. Sometimes medical help is necessary. If your face is swelling after a bite or sting, please do not try this home remedy first and seek medical treatment. 🤪
