Not sure where to begin with this nightmare of a cake. So I knew this one was going to be tough since the dinosaur’s torso is made of cake. First off the body parts were extremely hard to blend to the torso since I had to make them in advance so they would hold their shape. Second…. the cake was too small to hold the weight of the head which is why he has dowel rods holding his head up. Thankfully my husband came up with the idea to create a high voltage perimeter fence. Thirdly…. I didn’t have a cake box big enough and the box is what absorbs the moisture when a cake comes to room temperature. So fondant plus moisture equals a sticky mess. Thankfully the cake tasted good though. Fourthly….the Dino’s arm and a claw decided to break right before the party so what did I do? Well hot glued it of course 😂. Don’t worry no one ate the arm. Sixth…. In my panic I forgot to place a ribbon around the bottom of the cake board, add spikes to the Dino’s elbow, darken the inside of his mouth and some other finishing touches. Seventh….. the dinosaur wasn’t proportionate because of the cake. If I could have made a fondant or modeling chocolate Dino and placed it on the cake it would have been so much easier. But I have to admit, the best part of the Dino nightmare was watching the excitement on my grandson’s face as he showed all of his friends. He loved it which makes it all worth it. Love that little man❤️
