Beverly Ann Janelle passed away on Sunday, September 20 at the age of 91.

She was born in Cuyahoga, Ohio in the middle of the Great Depression to James and Annette Hanks and grew up in the Cleveland area prior to moving to Claremont with her mother where she attended Stevens High School. After graduating from Stevens in 1953, she attended the University of New Hampshire and then returned to Claremont to take a job as a dental assistant. She married Tim DeVoyd in 1958 and became mom to her 3 beloved sons, Jeffrey, Stephen, and Thomas DeVoyd. After Tom entered first grade, she began working as an administrative assistant to the Vocational Director at Stevens High School then later at the Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center. She worked in the school system for over 45 years, where she loved meeting the students and working with the faculty. That job allowed her to do two of her favorite things: observing and connecting with people.

Once the family purchased a small camper they vacationed regularly in Maine, Cape Cod, and Lake George as well as many other destinations up and down the Northeast US. Her love of travel wasn’t limited to camping. She also traveled by bus, train, and car to places like New York and Washington, DC. She enjoyed going everywhere but especially enjoyed visiting the Maine coast for its scenery and shows at the Ogunquit Playhouse.

She and Raymond Janelle married in 1984 in Claremont where they lived together until his passing in 2020.

All through her life she was highly active in 2 local organizations, The Stevens Alumni Association and Saint Joseph’s church. She held several official positions in the Alumni Association over the years and loved both watching and riding in the annual parade.

In her spare time Beverly loved knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and sewing. She not only mended clothes but also made clothes for herself and her family and throw pillows for all. Her family enjoyed receiving mittens, scarves, and winter hats hand knit especially for them.

Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Janelle, her mother, Annette Hanks, her father, James Hanks, her brother, Jim Hanks, and her first husband, Tim DeVoyd.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey, Stephen, and Thomas DeVoyd, Jeffrey’s partner, Michelle, Tom’s partner Phil, her sister-in-law Yvette, her niece Tracey, and the many in the area with whom she crossed paths over her long life.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesday, September 29th at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont. Her funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 30th at St Joseph's church in Claremont. A Celebration of Life reception will be held at St Joseph's following the burial.

Andrew (Ollie) Rea 2/3/1946- 9/21/2026
Andy of Ascutney, VT passed away at home surrounded by his family on September 21, 2026 after months long courageous battle with Mesothelioma. Below is his obituary as written by him.

I was born in Wi******er, MA on February 3, 1946.
I am the fourth son of Herbert and Rosamond Rea of Brookfield, VT. Since have passed on. I lived a lot of my childhood in the Orient. I attended the Brookfield school’s and then graduated from Northfield High School, the class of 1965. After school, I entered the US Navy, where I was a Radioman 3rd Class. I went to Vietnam twice while aboard the USS Intrepid CVS-11, which I fought in three campaigns. After giving four years of my life to my country, I came back to Vermont and became an electrician.
In 1969, I married Carlene Eurbin of Northfield, Vermont. We have four children. Jennifer Rea Amell (Gary)of Claremont, NH. Matthew Eurbin Rea (Nicole) of Hill, NH. Kevin Mudgett Rea of Weathersfield, VT and Catherine Rea Royce (Craig) of Claremont, NH. Grandchildren, Joshua VanHise, Ashlee Little, Emily, Molly and Marin Rea, Andrew and Hanna Royce and Remy Rea. Great Grandchildren Ella VanHise, Ace, Miles and Levi Little, Amelia Rea, Tucker and Liam Royce.
My brothers David, John and Peter left before me. I have many nephews and nieces. I belong to Post 25 of the American Legion in Windsor, Vermont and was a member of the Moose Club Lodge 1201 of Claremont, NH. I was a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), the Green Mountain Chapter.
While on this earth I worked as an electrician most of my life, working for many Electrical Contractors. You guys know who you are and I enjoyed every working hour for you and with you! I also worked in electrical sales for CED Twin State, Vermont Fire Alarm Distributors of Vermont, JG Temple Electric Supply and Granite City Electrical Supply. I ended my working days as an Electrical Inspector for the State of Vermont. I want everyone to Celebrate my Life! So after the services, I would like my family and friends to PARTY!!
Now! That’s all said and done, to all my Family and Friends. I enjoyed my LIFE and I hope that you enjoyed me in yours. So! Please enjoy the rest of yours and I hope you have as a good time here as I did!
Andy will be buried at Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, VT on October 1, 2026 at 11am. A celebration of life will be at the American Legion in Windsor, VT on October 10, 2026 1-4pm. Cremation arraignments are under the care of Stringer Funeral Home, Claremont, NH.

Linda J. Berry, 70, of Claremont, New Hampshire, passed away at her home on September 4, 2026, after nearly a year under hospice care. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends for all the joy and light she brought into their lives.
Linda was raised in Windsor, Vermont, before making her way to Claremont in the 1970s — a move that would define the rest of her life. For 31 years, she served as a paraprofessional in the Claremont school system, quietly shaping generations of students with patience, humor, and an unshakable belief in second (and third, and fourth) chances.
Outside of school hours, Linda kept a simple but devoted set of priorities: a good cup of coffee — preferably from Dunkin', and preferably in hand at all times — a phone charged and ready for the next round of Candy Crush, and the company of her animals. Her cats, Smokey and Scout, and her dog, Cesear, were faithful companions. She also had a lifelong fondness for owls, and it was hard to visit her home without spotting one perched somewhere — whether on a shelf, a mug, or a throw. She was also a devoted Shinedown fan, and some of her favorite memories were made at their concerts alongside her boyfriend, Brad— proof that a great road trip and a good rock anthem never go out of style. She also enjoyed many motorcycle rides on the back of Brad's bike. She was also a dedicated fan of The Walking Dead, with a particular soft spot for Norman Reedus' character — Daryl Dixon.
Linda is survived by her longtime partner, Brad Adams, and his daughters, Brittany and Melissa, and his grandsons, Thomas and Gabriel; her second husband, Charles Williams, and their son, Jarren Berry and his wife, Sarah, and their children, Jazzlyne, Adaleena, Camden, and Malcolm; Linda’s grandchildren, Jason and Brittney Seaver, and Ethan Martin; her great-grandson, Bryson; and her nieces, Charlene and LouAnne, and her closest friends De, Darlene, and Sandra Haines.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, John and Ethel Pauline; her sister, Ann; her brother, James, who died in infancy; her daughter, Sonia; and her beloved cats, Shadow and Dakota, as well as two Golden retrievers, Aja and Bella, her longtime best friend Cindi; and her ex-husband, Brian.
Linda's life was one of quiet devotion — to her students, to her family, and to the small daily joys that made the ordinary feel a little sweeter. She will be remembered for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her gift for making people feel at home.
The family would also like to thank Lake Sunapee VNA & Hospice for all the care and kindness they showed to Linda.
A memorial service will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont on Saturday, the 26th at 11AM.

Priscilla Brooks Stevens, 66, passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Priscilla was born at Fort Dix in Mt. Holy, New Jersey to Olin and Maxine (Fulford) Brooks.

Priscilla graduated from North Country Sacred Heart High School and then attended 2 yrs of Nursing School and 1 yr Internship with an RN degree.

Priscilla worked at Springfield Hospital for 3 yrs, Visiting Nurses for many yrs and as a Nurse in the Claremont School District at Maple Ave Elementary School.

Priscilla loved quilting, hand stamping, scrapbooking and camping with family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 yrs, Lawrence (Larry) Stevens of Claremont NH, 1 son Christopher of Sneads Ferry NC, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Olin and Maxine Brooks, and son, Matthew Stevens.

A celebration of life will be held at Stringer Funeral Home on Broad St in Claremont, NH on September 28, 2026, from 5-6 pm for her celebration of life and a short service at 6 pm. A private burial will be held for family only.

Joan Alice (LaBelle) Henault, of Claremont, New Hampshire, passed away on September 12, 2026, following a long illness, on the day of her 82nd birthday.
Joan was born on September 12, 1944, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, the daughter of Daniel W. LaBelle and Mary (Spalding) LaBelle of Hartford, Vermont.
Joan will be remembered most for her generous heart and the way she cared for others. She was always willing to help someone in need, and there was always room for one more person at her table. Her family and friends especially remember the annual Christmas gatherings she hosted, when everyone was welcome and left with a gift. Giving to others brought Joan great joy.
Joan was creative, hardworking, and never afraid to try something new. Over the years, she worked at Dartmouth Woolen Mill, Samantha's Fashion, and as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She loved to share her talents with others such as baking and ceramics. She even operated a ceramics shop where she taught others to paint and create their own pieces.
Joan raised four boys and was always there to support their activities, interests, and adventures. In the mid-1970s, that willingness to get involved led her to break new ground in the Claremont Little League when she became a female umpire—something few women were doing at the time.
Later in life, Joan found great happiness in her garden. She loved tending to her flowers and was proud of an extraordinary blossom she grew each year that stretched nearly three feet. It was the kind of accomplishment Joan was delighted to show off to family and visitors. Joan was an animal lover and had a special place in her heart for dogs, who brought her companionship and happiness throughout her life.
Joan is survived by her husband of 41 years, William “Bill” Henault of Claremont; her sons, Donald “Don” Decato and his wife, Judie, of Verona, Wisconsin, and Jay Soucy and his wife, Michelle, of Carmel, Indiana; her sister, Ellen Wood of Lebanon, New Hampshire; and her brother, Timothy “Tim” LaBelle of Claremont, New Hampshire.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dan Decato and his wife, Asia; Nina Decato and her fiancé, Tyler; Jason LaMontagne; Brittney Beland; Jeffrey Decato; Linsey Decato; Nathaniel Foote and his wife, Erin; Zachary Soucy; and Maxwell Soucy; and great grandchildren Mason Hewitt and Mariah Hewitt.
Joan was predeceased by her sons, Jeffrey Decato and Dale Decato; her granddaughter, Kasey Decato; her brothers, Daniel LaBelle, Louis LaBelle, John LaBelle, and James LaBelle; and her sister, Annette Stevens.
Joan lived her life by giving—to her family, her friends, and people who simply needed a helping hand. She created things, grew things, welcomed people into her home, and made sure there was something for everyone. Her family will remember the Christmas gatherings, the baking and ceramics, the flowers she was so proud of, her love of dogs, and, most of all, the many ways she showed her love through what she did for others.

Services: Family and friends are invited to gather to remember and celebrate Joan’s life on Tuesday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St, Claremont, NH. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. then grave side service at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Plains Road, Claremont, NH.

Memorial Contributions: For those wishing to honor Joan’s memory, the family suggests a memorial contribution to an animal shelter or rescue organization in recognition of Joan’s special love for dogs.

Dr. John David “Jody” Trout, Jr., 62, of White River Junction, VT, Associate Professor of Mathematics at Dartmouth College, died Wednesday afternoon in Hartford, VT.

Dr. Trout was born December 21, 1963, in Charleston, SC, son of the late John David Trout, Sr. and DeAnna Strickland Trout. A dedicated scholar, he earned his bachelor’s degree from College of Charleston, a master’s degree from Clemson University, and a doctorate in mathematics from Pennsylvania State University. He joined the faculty of Dartmouth College in 1995, where he taught for more than three decades. He was known as a specialist in abstract mathematics, who kept his door open to anyone who wanted to talk.

He was an Orthodox Christian and a longtime member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Claremont, NH, where he enjoyed participating in theological discussions and studying iconography.

He was an avid reader, ranked chess player, comic book collector and an amateur astronomer. He became a father later in life, an answer to many years of prayer and his children were his absolute pride and joy. His family will miss his gentle nature, his sense of humor, his ‘dad jokes’ and his impromptu dance moves.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Deanne “Nina”; his two children, Natalie and Kyprian; his brother Darel P. Trout and wife Jennifer; a nephew Ryan and a niece Rachel; as well as a host of beloved cousins and extended family.

His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, Claremont NH, immediately followed by the burial at Mountain View Cemetery, Claremont, NH. A meal to follow the burial will be held at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church.

Shirley Brown Bladen, 84, passed away peacefully at her family’s home in Cornish, New Hampshire surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
She was born on December 31, 1941, in Bellows Falls, VT, the daughter of Robert and Sophie (Bechok) Brown. She graduated from Charlestown High School in 1959 and Burdett Business College in 1961. She married Robert “Bob” Bladen on June 10, 1961.
The family farm in North Charlestown was an important part of Shirley’s early life. She spent time living there and made many happy memories with her cousins. She loved reminiscing about their childhood adventures and time spent together on the farm. These memories remained incredibly special to her, and she enjoyed telling them throughout her life.
Early in her career, Shirley worked at Maple Avenue School and the vocational-technical school in Claremont. She later worked at Johnson & Dix, where she enjoyed 20 years of service and made many lasting friendships. After retiring, Shirley followed her dream of opening a country store.
Shirley and Bob moved to Cornish in 1978 with their two children. She was an active and proud member of the community and generously gave her time to many local organizations. In the early 1980s, she began volunteering with the Cornish Fair Association, serving in various capacities, including seven years as treasurer. She was also an active member of Grace River Church, where she served as church auditor and contributed her time and talents for many years.
With her husband Bob they opened the Cornish General Store which became one of the greatest joys of her life. For the next 10 years she could often be found behind the counter chatting with customers and friends. Her contagious laughter could be heard from afar.
After closing the store, Shirley and Bob traveled to Africa, Costa Rica and Alaska, proving to be favorite destinations.
Shirley will be remembered for her warm and welcoming nature, generous spirit, infectious laughter, deep love of family, and devotion to her community. She brought joy to the many people whose lives she touched and will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Bladen, and her children, Laura (Bladen) Hammond and Robert Bladen Jr. She is survived by her son-in-law, Greg Hammond, of Cornish; her grandchildren, Sophie Hammond, also of Cornish; Dylan Bladen and his wife, Theresa Creighton of Charlestown and Molly (Bladen) Starcher and her husband, Josh Starcher of Newport; her great-grandchildren Harper Bladen, Nora and Emmitt Starcher; numerous cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, September 9th at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 10th at Grace River Church in Claremont with burial to follow at Edminster Cemetery in Cornish. A reception will be held at the Cornish Town Hall following the burial.

Dean A. Garrapy, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 28, 2026 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH.
Dean was born in Bristol, VT June 25, 1934 to Joseph & Hattie (Badore) Garrapy. In 1948, Dean and his mother moved to Reading, VT where he attended Reading Elementary School and met the love of his life, Beverley “Bev” (Becker). He attended Springfield High School until 1953 and shortly after married Bev on July 3, 1954.
Dean worked several jobs until finding his calling at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He worked there for 33 years until retiring in 1986 when he became the town handyman. Dean served as a volunteer firefighter, helped with road repairs, was a committee member of Reading’s Old Time Ball for 25 years, and a 50-year member of the Windsor Elks. He drove the Reading school bus and enjoyed treating the kids to ice cream on the last day of school.
Dean loved racing, camping, wildlife, raising his beef cattle, and had a love for all dogs. He enjoyed a good barn dance and sharing memories of his life with his grandchildren.
Dean was proud of the home he and Bev built in Reading where he enjoyed spending time in his garage refinishing furniture, working on antique tractors, repairing whatever needed fixing, and spending time with family and friends. When telling people about Bev and his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, he always said with a big smile, “look at what we started.”
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Bev (Becker) Garrapy of Reading, VT, two daughters, Anna Tewksbury (David) of Springfield, VT and Debbie Ferland (Moe) of Lake Mary, FL., five grandchildren, Paul Tewksbury (Meghan), Shanon Tewksbury (Zach), Alden Tewksbury (Krista), Deanna Ferland (Brian), and Starsha Adams (Arthur), 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
His is preceded in death by his mother and father, Hattie and Joseph Garrapy, half-brother Joe Brittel, half-sister Marguerite Allen, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at Dean and Bev’s home in Reading, VT on October 3, 2026 from 1pm-4pm

With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother and grandmother Dolores Koziol Wallenius. The angels came for her at Valley Regional Hospital on August 16, 2026. She was 83 years old.
Born on October 13, 1942, she was the loving daughter of Stephen and Amelia Koziol of Chicopee Massachusetts. A few years after she graduated from Chicopee High School, she was introduced to the love of her life by a mutual friend at a coffee shop. Not long thereafter he was drafted, and she waited for him dutifully to come back from his overseas service. She and Bill were married on May 7, 1966; a marriage that lasted 60 years.
They moved to Claremont in 1970 with their two sons, Michael and Eric. Their strong faith led them to become parishioners at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church; the perfect parish for them, given Dolores’s Polish Heritage. She delighted in the holidays, spending time with her brother, sister, nieces and nephews and in-laws every Christmas. One of her greatest joys was enjoying time with her three granddaughters.
Her love of children and her thirst for learning and self-improvement motivated her to go from volunteering as a Noon Aid at Maple Avenue School to being hired as the school librarian; a job she cherished for 27 years. During that time, she also served a term as the president of the local paraprofessional organization, which involved representing the organization in front of the Claremont School Board. She was also a member of the Lady Union Aide Society and performed in the Cardiac Capers Hospital fundraiser.
In retirement, Dolores resumed volunteering both at the Bluff School and as a ticket agent and usher at the Claremont Opera House. She also enjoyed preparing food for the annual Sports Night at St. Joe’s. She traveled with her husband Bill to visit Eric’s family in Texas, and they vacationed in Hawaii, Alaska, Italy and Mexico. In her down time, she enjoyed crocheting and reading Westerns. She was a great cook, who poured her heart into holiday meals, and was particularly good at Polish cuisine, including the best pierogis and gołąbkis.
Dolores was an enormously curious person, who delighted in learning new things, going to new places and meeting new people. She was gregarious and would strike up conversations with the most unlikely strangers everywhere from the grocery store to restaurants, airports and riding the T in Boston. She had an intensely positive outlook and a laugh that brought a smile to everyone around her. She was a ray of sunshine to her friends and family and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by Michael and his husband Dan Bellemore of Goffstown NH, Eric and his wife Laura (Nobel) of Palestine, Texas, and their daughters Ellen, Annika, and Katherine. She is also survived by her brother Stephen Koziol of Ludlow Massachusetts and was pre-deceased by her sister Joan Koziol Roberts of Chicopee. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews
Calling hours will be at Stringer Funeral Home at 146 Broad Street in Claremont from 9:30 to 10:30 on Saturday, September 19th immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church at 11AM on Elm Street.

Arline Karpinski Marro, 100, of Nelmar Heights in Claremont, NH died on August 22nd, 2026, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in North Walpole, NH on June 20th, 1926, the daughter of Stanley and Eva (Johnson) Karpinski.
Arline was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School, Class of 1944. She was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire in 1948 and later the Dartmouth-Hitchcock School of Medical Technology, where she became a registered medical technologist and worked at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church where she served as the organist, director of the Junior Choir, and organizer of the annual Polish-American Heritage celebrations. Additionally, she organized community events such as the annual Sports Nights, Parish Picnics, Bazaars, the St. Joseph Church 50th Anniversary Celebration, and the Pastor 25th Anniversary Celebration. Arline was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of America for 82 years. She served as the Local and State Regent and as the National Director of the Catholic Daughters. Arline was also the avid leader and founder of the Claremont chapter of the Junior Catholic Daughters, guiding generations of girls and young women. She loved to inspire young parishioners to participate in community outreach and creative activities.
Arline was an active and proud member of her community. She was a volunteer for the Well Baby Clinic, American Red Cross Blood Drive, and Cancer drives. She served as a volunteer at the Sullivan County Nursing Home for over 34 years. She was a member of the Ladies Union Aid Society. She was devoted to hard work and people in need.

Arline provided constant civic service to the city of Claremont. She was a member of the City Council Committee on Youth, member of the School Health Education Committee, Competency Program, Curriculum Steering Committee, and several PTA offices. Additionally, she would frequently visit classrooms to read to students, helping young learners and those with special needs. For the State, she served on the UNH President’s State Alumni Council, the board of the New Hampshire West Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the West Central NH Community Mental Health Service. Her contributions were numerous and impactful, especially for young people in her community.

Arline received numerous honors for her work including, but not limited to, the Grange Good Citizen Award, the Rotary Community Service Award, the St. Anne Award, the Great American Family Award, the Sullivan County Governor’s Volunteer Award, and the Claremont BPW “Women of Achievement” Award. Additionally, she was awarded as the 1990 Claremont Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Citizen of the Year”, being the first female recipient.
Arline’s hobbies were often tied to her civic engagement. She is fondly remembered for the geraniums, pecans, chocolates, and 20-20 tickets which she sold for fundraising events. Arline loved spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is remembered as the host of family traditions and holiday events. Arline was a proud Polish-American and would participate in cultural events, preparing golumpki, chruścik (angel wings), and other cuisine for her Polish community. For her love of music and singing, she was an enthusiastic member of the Area Choir into her nineties. She also enjoyed watching sports, particularly the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots, but especially her grandchildren’s sports.

Marro Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Louisville, KY, Mark Marro and his wife, Wendie, of Bedford, NH, Peter Marro and his partner, Dustin Tucker, of Falmouth, ME, and Stanley Marro and his fiancé Sheila LaRoche, of Claremont; her daughter, Patty, and her husband George “Larry” Miller, of Claremont; her eleven grandchildren, Kylah Lent and her husband, Chris, Leigha Smolnik and her husband, Ryan, Hannah Marro, Nicholas “Bud” Marro and his partner, Courtney Carter, Emilee Marro, Jonathan Marro, Corey Marro, Jessica Marro and her partner, Scott Messer, Michael Miller and his wife, Gianna DeMarco, Sydney Miller and her spouse, Abby Williams, and Harrison Tucker; eight great grandchildren, Zakary, Zain, Zayden, Byron, Ryleigh, Julius, Paxton, and Geneva; her sister, Claire Barbieri; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins; and in addition, Bonnie Wyand, Kaleb Tarczewski, Chelsa Ayotte, and her dedicated caregiver and friend Marissa Schmidt. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas C. Marro Sr., and her siblings Phyllis Martin and Stanley “Buddy” Karpinski.
Friends and family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Wednesday, August 26th from 5PM to 8PM.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, 58 Elm Street, in Claremont on Thursday at 11AM. Burial will follow in the West Claremont Burial Ground.
