Guayaba y Huacatay

So thankful to be part of such an amazing group that has ā€˜trade Tuesday’
Was fortunate enough to see some Barbie pink guava & Peruvian black mint (huacatay) available today. Traded some nettle/goldenrod vinegar and a few tinctures for these & some dwarf morninga.
We will get grow bags for all to keep these going through any frost/freeze that may come next winter so moving is easier
I can taste it now 🤤pastelitos de guayaba y queso

Honeysuckle flowers have a long history in traditional herbal systems for their cooling, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. The flowers are rich in compounds like chlorogenic acid and luteolin, both studied for modulating inflammatory pathways and oxidative stress.

This is Lonicera japonica on our arbor, not running wild, not choking out natives, not acting like a problem child.
We grow it on purpose. We harvest it with respect. We keep it contained because intention matters

Currently I’m leaning on this ally for support both internally & externally to help with inflammation of a gnarly poison ivy rash

šŸŖ Miso Brown Butter Fresh Milled Chocolate Chip šŸŖ
Hands down my favorite cookie. On the outside it looks like a basic chocolate chip cookie, just one bite and you realize it’s more than you could ever wish for.

Why? Because fermentation and dessert just make sense. The sweet, the savory, the umami all layered together through the depth that fermentation brings 🤤
It’s the same reason honey tastes better with yogurt and why tangy sourdough pairs so well with jam. Miso in cookies is just another way of doing something people have been doing for generations, balancing sweet with fermented foods to make the flavor deeper and more complete. Take all that and add in fresh milled spelt, rye, & wheat šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼
The texture. The Flavor.
It’s unforgettable.
