Gochujang spicy sourdough with cottage cheese on a traditional Assamese brass plate and bowl,  and water from a copper pitcher. My breakfast this morning. ❤️

(Posting for one of many SuperSlo fans that do not have a social media presence. And is also a prolific collector of art, objects of beauty, with exquisite taste in food 😉💗)

Assamese brass and bell-metal products hold a deep cultural and religious significance.
They are used in religious rituals and ceremonies.
Products like the sarai are traditional symbols of respect and are often gifted during ceremonies.

The history of traditional Assamese brass plates dates back to at least the 7th century AD, evidenced by gifts from the Kamarupa king Kumar Bhaskara Varman to King Harshavardhana. The Chinese scholar Hiuen Tsang was also gifted these utensils by the same king.

This craft, known to be over two millennia old, is centered in places like Sarthebari, a historic center for bell-metal products.
