Given all the amazing new support/followers, we think reintroductions are in order!

Letizia and her husband Vincenzo arrived in the USA from Rome in 1992, following their three children who came to the US to pursue university educations. Initially Letizia was a professor herself, teaching Latin Studies and Italian at DePaul. However the combination of homesickness and her desire to pursue her true passion of baking led her to open Letizia’s Natural Bakery on Division St. in 1998.

Back then the area was desolate and dangerous, but her son, Fabio, saw the potential in the area and they decided to open up the bakery anyways. Initially what began as a wholesale project to natural/whole foods focused independent retailers transformed into the bakery and restaurant that you all love today.

28 years later the same mother and son duo in the same 19th century building operate Letizia’s and Enoteca Roma, together (with the incredible help of many family members and Mia the Italian Mastiff). It has been our privilege to see the area grow and transform around us, and we can’t wait to see what the next 28 years brings.

THANK YOU ALL for your continued (or brand new!) support over the years, which has allowed us to face countless challenges and remain true to our mission of providing high quality, natural food to our community.
