LUCK OF THE IRISH 🍀 For Colleen & John - we went green in all the ways possible. A pale sage background and multiple tones of sugar greenery complementing the colorful fall sugar flowers. The best parts? Nods to their Irish heritages with Bells of Ireland and four leaf clovers - all in sugar of course.

I loved this unique color palette for fall - inspired by the team at Flowers for Dreams and it was a joy creating for C&J. Congratulations you two!! 🍾🍰🥂💚🍀

MAUVE 🍃 This color palette is one of my favorite combos, so when Susannah & Nick showed me their decor & inspo photos, I knew their cake was going to be something special.

Hexagon tiers, white hand painted art-deco scroll work, some subtle texture (thanks to Angela Morrison impression mat) and some loose and movement filled@sugar flowers, inspired by the rock star Xo Design Co.

I always forget to mention flavors because I know you can’t taste through the screen- but if you could, you’d want to taste this one. Spiced pear cake with ginger molasses cream cheese and chai buttercream and vanilla cake with elderflower buttercream and strawberry-rhubarb preserves. 😋

JEWEL TONES 💎 Kicked this weekend off with a very special birthday celebration - can you guess the theme? 🦚🦚🦚

With saturated colors, draping, and sugar flowers inspired by the decor by S V A R I N creative - this six tier showpiece was full of detail and utilized many different techniques. Hand painted gold feather panels popped against the dark background and the tessellated feather pattern (inspired by Blanc-Tailleur Bastien ) gave the cake multiple expressions of the theme. Delicate string work and soft fondant draping balanced out the geometry of it all.

The exclamation point was the bright jewel toned sugar flowers in pinks & blues.

A little outside of my natural style - but I think it can be good to flex these muscles sometimes. ☺️

TOUCH OF BLUE 💙 For Eleanor & Connor last weekend at Saddle & Cycle Club. A touch a blue meant creating a custom stencil to match their linen pattern using procreate & my circuit. We also also added little four leaf clovers to the sugar flower arrangements as a nod to their Irish heritages. It’s these personal touches that you can always expect at Flourish.

Stepping into Fall 🍂 This weekend was a dream. Obviously you can see the decor was stunning, the atmosphere was ethereal, the colors yummy, but the best part for me was a repeat client. I don’t get many repeat clients working in the wedding industry (and thats a good thing) but when you get to come back and design multiple sisters’ wedding cakes? It makes it all the more special to me. This family & their cakes will always hold an extra sentimental place in my portfolio (and my heart)!!

And the cake…going to be a forever favorite I think. When I couldn’t find a good mold for the framing to echo all the arches & wainscoting in the tent & inspiration images, I bought some dollhouse crown molding and made my own silicone mold. Worked like a charm. A subtly burnished-gold framed background was the perfect way to make those sugar flowers POP. Honeysuckle and rose vines climbed all over the cake, accented with dahlias, zinnias, and butterfly ranunculus.

Congratulations again to Jeana & Sam - what a joy to be a part of this day. Cheers!!

BYE BYE SUMMER 🍁 Saying goodbye to summer, but not mad about it because that means allllll the yummy fall sugar flowers!!

First time making zinnias and I think I love them! (Plus they don’t get powdery mildew like the real ones in my garden! 🪏)

FALL 🍁 I was/am very ready for fall this year and man do we have some fabulous autumnal beauties on the schedule in the next month. We are heading into our final push for the bulk of the season, and not much rest or sleep will be had, but the art that will be produced I think will make it all worth it.
