Based on the true story of the Rouse Simmons, a schooner ship which brought the first Christmas trees to Chicago by way of the treacherous winter waters of Lake Michigan, this story of love, faith, and family is bound to become a new holiday tradition for Beverly audiences.

The 2022 Beverly Art Walk will showcase the people and places that make Beverly/Morgan Park amazing! The art and music packed day will celebrate the neighborhood’s unique cultural assets, including the Beverly Arts Center, Vanderpoel Art Association, Ridge Historical Society, 95th Street Branch Public Library, the Paul and Jean Harris Home, and a diverse selection of local artists’ home studios and art environments throughout the neighborhood.
The free, family-friendly event will feature more than 100 artists, the return of the popular Uprising Craft Market—featuring more than 30 makers and artisans—a Family Fun Park in conjunction with Sutherland’s I Madonnari street painting festival, a food court, and live public art activations.

The Ridge Historical Society, 10621 S. Seeley Avenue, is open today, Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
The current exhibit is Hetherington Design Dynasty, profiling the Hetherington family of architects who lived in Beverly and designed over 70 buildings in the Ridge communities.
The exhibit includes photographs of many of the Hetherington houses taken by Mati Maldre, Professor Emeritus of Art, Chicago State University.

Are you back to eating in? I miss coming in
We have been out here packing our Love Fridges with donuts from Beverly Bakery and Cafe! Also, been working with ShowerUp Chicago today to deliver sweets to our unhoused friends. We were able to save a life today. A 71 year old woman struggling with mental health and displacement almost took her life until she seen someone she trusted. God is Good! We decided to stop at her tent to give her some sweets and it turned into a conversation that changed a life.

There are 55 days until we move to Evanston and I am getting more nostalgic and sentimental about that with each passing day. It helps me to remember that more than one thing can be true at the same time.✌🏼💭🗓
I can be really excited for us to move back to my hometown and I can be sad about leaving our “Village in the City” where we have lived for the last 19 years and raised our children thus far. 🏘🧡🥲
Though I know we will visit a lot in the years to come, we are also starting a bit a of a farewell tour of some of our favorite local things. This weekend we picked up a dozen of the best donuts in Beverly (and really anywhere near our SW Chicago neighborhood) from Beverly Bakery and Cafe and enjoyed every bite of their deliciousness! 🍩💚😋
