The design brief for this cake was citrus-inspired…with marshmallows. You’ll have to ask my eight year old client why he came up with that combo, but I think it works! This was my first time trying a buttercream transfer and I’m hooked! These orange and lemon slices were piped on to a piece of acetate (plastic) and then wrapped around a cake to produce the picture perfect outcome you see here.

A pinch on the left, pinch, pinch on the right! This three-layer 6” cake is frosted in buttercream with fondant accents and a fondant-covered styrofoam roof. Utilizing “dummy” (aka styrofoam) layers is a great way to reduce overall costs and allow for greater creativity and easier scheduling.
