Yesterday morning at 8:27am I watched my mother-in-laws battle with cancer end. It was the 3rd time in her life that she fought that terrible disease.

Watching her struggle on this last fight was one of the toughest things I’ve had to do in my life. Not only watching her decline and pain but also seeing my wife, my wife’s father and other family members I love have to watch and deal with it all as well. It was just a long, painful journey for everyone.

When I came into my mother and father-in-laws life I was not really what you would call a welcomed addition 🤣. And rightfully so lol. I’ve always told them that I did not blame them one bit about being a little apprehensive about me joining their family. I mean think about it, would you want a 23 year old Bunk marrying your daughter? I sure as hell wouldn’t 🤣🤣.

But Barbara still took me in I eventually earned her trust and love in spite of me being me. Having lost my own mother many years ago, she truly made me feel as if I was one of her own children.

I joke about me being tough to put up with but there is a seriousness to all joking. Many of you probably don’t know this but without her, the 🥜✅ probably would never have become a “thing”. Long story short, when Günther was a puppy, my 10 year old sense of humor thought it was funny when he would roll over and lay on his back so his balls could air out. Barbara on the other hand thought it was disgusting. So me being me, I started taking pictures of him every time he did it and then I would text them to her just to mess with her. And she would just laugh because she knew I thought it was funny.

It was oddly peaceful watching her take her last struggling breath. We knew she was at peace and ready to go meet God. She had already told us a couple of weeks ago that she saw her angel that was gonna take her to meet Him but that it wasn’t time yet. She told us that she (the angel) had long red hair.

Barbie (as I called her) was one of the toughest and most caring people I’ve ever known. And she was tough with me when she needed to be but she sure took care of me throughout it all.

I love and miss you Momma Barbie but I have lost nothing in your passing because I gained everything in your living.
