As New Years Day approaches I feel both joy & sadness intertwined with the excitement of a new chapter.
The Chatham Cookie Company has been sold to a local family who will keep the name and continue to create my seaside treats. The store will not be open today as the new owners begin 1/1/16.
I want to thank all my loyal customers, those who supported me through this adventure (Liz and Marcus especially) as you made my experience as a business owner wonderful. I feel truly grateful for the friendships I developed along the way. It still amazes me the willingness of local people to jump in and help one another. Roger Ling you were unbelievable, helping me anytime I was in trouble; Barbara from Main St Pottery who stopped by each day to say hello, and her dog Zuccini giving me wet kisses looking for a dog treat; Sandi from Sandi's Diner who offered words of encouragement; Chatham Gables Inn for consistently ordering platters; Jon Davis for playing piano for 2 years every Sunday, only requiring cookies as payment; Nick Boas who jumped in one New Years eve to be my cook& be my bartender during the annual Witches Walk too; Jennifer Norwood who helped decorate a zillion cookies one day just because she had time; Theresa for assisting with my wine dinners; Melinda for being a hostess with the "mostess" when necessary; Jodi & Mary Lou for their spiritual guidance and love; Nikolina and Matty, my Croation superstars, for being my managers and running things perfectly; Mina my favorite Serbian and lastly Amy Tag from the Chronicle, you supported me in the early days and continued right up the end. I am blessed.
This cookie journey has required dedication, commitment and time, it allowed me time to find myself, discovering what really matters in this journey we call life.
I wish you all the best in 2016, may it be a year filled with love, happiness, joy and health.
