It is good to see the ground again after yesterday's rain cleared away more of the snow! The goats and horses are glad of the sunshine. New this week, we have Alter Eco chocolate available! Made with organic ingredients, these are one of our favorite sweet treats.

Well, looks like things are finally supposed to warm up this week which will hopefully melt some of this snow! The snow has been frozen so solid that even Epic at 900+ lb has been able to stand on top of it without breaking through.

It's been a lovely, cool start to August! We've all been outside every chance we get. We're currently working on renovating the driveway, so next time you stop by the farm keep an eye out for progress on that project!
Just a reminder, we deliver to Charlottesville on Wednesdays and purchased items are available for pick-up in our farm shop Wednesday-Saturday. If you want to order Polyface products other than what we have available on our website, please contact us.

We had a very busy week here on the farm! We're working on a new driveway, and clearing the back of the property for more pasture. The rain this year has been just wonderful for the fields and the garden, and the goats are working hard to keep the weeds down. Hopefully we will have cherry tomatoes available soon! We're making a new batch of fire cider that will be ready soon as well. Hope everyone enjoyed a celebratory fourth! This week we're working on landscape renovations and moving mulch on the farm. There is still lots of fresh produce available, including banana peppers, fresh potatoes (see our favorite potato salad recipe below!) cucumbers, herbs and more. Our favorite summer potato salad
2-3 lbs new potatoes, scrubbed, chopped and boiled in salted water until fork-tender. Rinse in cold water until cooled (to prevent overcooking)
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2-3 tablespoons each parsley and chives (either fresh or dried) or more to taste
salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
2-3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, fire cider vinegar or white wine vinegar (optional, can add if prefer a "tangier" dressing)

Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate overnight before serving.
