Hi, Friends. Mary here. Many of you know me, many of you also probably don’t—it’s been a while since I’ve made much of an appearance here. Back when I *was* posting regularly, one of the things that I was most proud of was that I always felt that I could talk to you guys in a familial, conversational way. It’s still the best way I know to deliver difficult or complicated news. So here goes:
Hunny Bunny Bakes, as it currently exists, will be closing, effective immediately.
HOWEVER, we remain under contract for our retail space, which means we still have bills to pay, so we are offering a few final opportunities to experience and support HBB before we close our door permanently.
Wait, Mary…how can it be possible that it makes more fiscal sense for a small business to close their doors and scrounge for rent money than to stay open, promote, and try to compete with the big guys? Yeah…we’re still trying to make sense of this landscape, too…
Here's what we’re doing: taking it month by month. We are actively trying to sublet our space at 2004 S Neil St, Champaign (so if you know someone with a dream and a good plan, send them our way), but while that process plays out, we will be taking on a VERY LIMITED number of select orders. Because guess what guys? It’s back to just me again.
If you have an order for January with us on the books, fret not—we’re good. Scheduled pickups will continue through our co-op partner and neighbor, The CU Flower House If you would like to be considered for an order in January, please go to our website and fill out a custom inquiry form (located near the bottom of the main page). I will respond as quickly as I am able, to confirm or deny your request. Booking for February will begin Jan 1. Booking for March (if we get there) will begin Feb 1, and so on.
We will be hosting a “Farewell Cookie Decorating Class” at The CU Flower House on Saturday, Jan 24 from 2-4pm. The vibes will be light on learning and heavy on laughing and we’d love to see you there. BYOB encouraged!
We are also very excited to announce that a Hunny Bunny Bakes recipe book is in the works, with an expected release date in early spring, 2026. This recipe book will include over 30 HBB signature recipes (i.e.: our swiss meringue buttercream, cinnamon rolls, strawberry cookies, espresso mousse, and more!), along with photos of HBB work over the years and maybe even some secret lore, lol. We have options for either a hard-cover or coil-bound (flat lay) version and if you’d like to have it shipped to you, there’s an option for that, too. Pre-orders open now.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of clients that have allowed us to create treats for your special events over the past 8 years. We are honored to have been trusted in the ways that you trusted us. Because of your support, I was able to live out a long-standing dream of mine, learn some incredible life lessons, and have a bunch of fun doing it—a gift that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. THANK YOU.
