I've had the time of my life, and I owe it all to you...
If you had told a young girl growing up on thr streets of New York that she would one day be embraced by a city in Iowa as The Cheesecake Lady CR, she would have said, “Yeah, right!” But here we are. I might be a New Yorker by birth but, Cedar Rapids has been my home for the last 20 years (almost to the day).
As I officially close the doors on this incredible chapter of my life, my heart is completely full.
Without your late-night orders, your viral shares, your grace during frantic slice pickups, and your endless encouragement, this journey would never have been possible. You stood by me through a pandemic, record-breaking inflation, egg and cream cheese shortages, a catastrophic derechos, and though you weren’t aware at the time, a brutal custody battle. On the lighter side of things, I have to say, I’ve had the best taste testers anyone could have ever asked for! You probably don’t know but you have taste tested over 70 different flavors which helped me to expand my menu.
I have so many amazing memories… Being asked to speak at One Million Cups event, being apart of a Locovore event where I got to meet Chef Eddie G, where him and his crew gave my cheesecakes two thumbs up, so many weddings I had the honor of being a part of, being invited to the Vote With Your Dollars Entrepreneurial event where I got to see just how much support I actually had here in CR (mind blowing), being invited onto Dangerous Leaders podcast… honestly, it’s all felt like one amazing dream.
Thank you for tasting the love in every single slice. You will always be the sweetest part of my story. Though there are many who will be over the top happy to see me go, they can never take away what we had(have)…. because you weren’t just customers to me, you became dear friends, and dare I say, my family. I will always love and cherish this time of my life. ❤️❤️❤️
