Hello ❤️
We have had Tea Social for a while and some had a question of tapping fingers. At my tea social, tapping fingers means you would like some more tea and this finger tapping or finger kowtow in Chinese tea house is a quiet thank you to the host who pours tea.
During the Tea Social, finger tapping shows “thank you” without interrupting the conversation. In history, finger tapping after tea poured.
However, this can be flexible. In my tea house, i combined “i would like some more tea” + “thank you” in your tapping.
I was going to explain it then was distracted by other interesting questions from my tea pals.
I hope it can help you feel not rude (as some commented) when tapping at the tea table. It’s a lovely part showing gratitude of tea culture (particularly in Chinese tea culture).
Other questions i had: how many times of tapping (2-3 times)
How many fingers? I considered people sitting at tea with me peers so you can use two fingers together: the index + the middle
I just remembered this when i had my early tea this am😊

Hi there
Let’s talk about coffee cake again. I had a post about these delicious morning cakes in my previous post
I have question “does coffee cake include coffee?” - Not necessary. Of course, bakers can make coffee coffee cake which has coffee.
Coffee cake is to go with morning coffee or tea. My coffee cake is filled with cinnamon.
Basic sponge cake cinnamon swirl in the mid layer topped with cinnamon streusels then drizzled with vanilla glaze.
*another question i have: why you call it streusels instead of crumble?
Streusels (German term) for granular topping for muffins, (coffee) cakes and pies
Crumble (British term) for fruit desserts such as blueberry muffins, peach cobblers (adapted from Southern cobblers)
Anyway, i call the crunchy top of my coffee cake “streusels”.
It’s very well-liked at my bakery and will be out for sale tomorrow. Come and grab one slice to pair with your coffee/ tea ❤️

Zebra Finch Macarons has been approved for a booth at Iowa City Pride this coming Saturday! We're super excited to be at this event again this year and are baking LOTS of macarons to celebrate, including our Rainbow Vanilla Pride special!

We will be in the Ped Mall starting at noon this year, and the weather looks like it's going to be a lot nicer than last time! Stop by and say hi and celebrate Pride with us!! 🏳️‍🌈

Sliderlicious Sliders inside NewBo market. They are new and tasty.
Talking briefly with the owner, they make their own rolls. Rolls’ texture is more of biscuit texture to me. Generous portions. The BBQ has very nice flavor, and it’s sweet BBQ style.
The burger was good.
We had: smokey brisket slider and burger with potato salad and macaroni salad.
Come support them when you plan to dine out. They love to have feedbacks from customers to get better and better, which remind me of our bakery from beginning days: excited to learn, to settle down, to build a community…❤️
