Anti-Inflammatory Tea 🍵
As my page starts to slowly incorporate herbs into the business I wanted to start sharing some of my favorite herbal recipes. Today I have created a video with the recipe for my favorite anti-inflammatory tea. This recipe is very similar to the very popular Indian drink golden milk. But I have altered my recipe to fit my specific likes. At the beginning of 2025 I was in a lot of pain and was very inflamed. I hadn't been able to lose all of my postpartum weight and I wanted to change. So I started doing some research and discovered all of these herbs and spices that are in the recipe. Between changing my diet radically for the better and incorporating this tea I was able to lose the weight and get much healthier. When your body is inflamed it becomes much harder to lose weight. But when you reduce the inflammation it allows your body to start to heal. Below is a breakdown of all the components of the herbs and spices in this recipe.

1. Turmeric- ✔️
Turmeric is a spice that gives flavor and color to many popular foods. The main ingredient in turmeric is curcumin. Because of the curcumin, turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent and antioxidant. Turmeric is not well absorbed alone thus making it more useful to combine with the other herbs in this recipe. Turmeric is great at treating chronic inflammation and acts similar to ibuprofen. Tumeric should be avoided but those on blood thinners or if you are pregnant. Due to its bright hue tumeric stains so it's best to wear gloves when handling it
2. Ginger root- 🫚 Ginger is a beloved spice that is well known for helping nausea and other stomach issues. Ginger is also a very effective anti-inflammatory spice. It is anti-inflammatory to several key compounds that it contains. Due to its warming abilities it can help promote better circulation. It is also a very good immune booster and you often see it included in many herbal cold remedies. Again due to its similarity to turmeric if you are on blood thinners or similar medications you should consult with a doctor before consuming ginger root.
3. Coconut oil-🥥 The third ingredient in this recipe is coconut oil. I like to add coconut oil due to the healthy fat content. I also find that adds a nice creaminess to the texture. Coconut oil also aids in the absorption of turmeric and ginger root. Fat is essential for absorbing these compounds. Due to the healthy fats in coconut oil in moderation it can provide a quick energy boost.

4. Black pepper-🌶️ The next ingredient is black pepper. Black pepper dramatically increases the absorption of turmeric. Studies have shown that black pepper when combined with turmeric increases its absorption by 2000%. Black pepper is an anti-inflammatory agent in its own right. The active compound piperine in black pepper has been shown to relieve muscle soreness and help overall body inflammation.

5. Water- 💦 the fifth ingredient in the tea is water. I just used two cups of water but you can adjust the water content to your needs. You can also use milk if you want to have more of a thicker consistency and a creamier taste.
6. Black Elderberry syrup-🌳
I also add a little bit of elderberry syrup after I remove the tea from the heat. Elderberries are rich in vitamin c, antioxidants and flavonoids that help boost the immune system. Elderberry is a great addition to add to your wellness routine this time or the way to stay healthy! I got mine at Rettas Folk Art Remedies! Check them out!
7. Raw Local Honey- 🍯 raw honey is one of nature's most powerful remedies. To get all the benefits you absolutely must get raw honey and it is especially beneficial if you get it from your local area. Get it from as local to you as is possible. Raw honey is good for allergy support, digestive health, soothing sore throats and colds, natural energy, natural sweetener, would healer, skin care and much more. I got mine from Bearcreek honey in Boyd, County.
8. Mint- 🍃 The last ingredient I use is 1 tsp of dry mint leaves. Typically I use peppermint but all I had on hand when filming this video was sweet mint. Any kind of mimt will do but peppermint is the most powerful. Mint is a natural anti-inflammatory especially for the digestive tract. Because of its ingredient menthol it helps cool down the body which in turn helps calm down inflamed muscles and nerves. Peppermint especially has been shown to relieve inflammation of the gut. The reason that I include mint in my anti-inflammatory tea is because the gut acts as your second brain. And if it's inflamed everything else will likely be too. Mint but especially peppermint is always a good thing to have on hand during flu season.

✔️How to make- bring all the ingredients to a low boil for about a minute to 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add the elderberry syrup and raw honey. Place contents in a jar and cover with a lid while it's still hot. You can let it simmer for just a few minutes or you can do an herbal infusion and let the mixture sit for an hour or more. I prefer to let it sit for an hour to extract all the benefits. When the time is up strain the tea and enjoy! You can enjoy the tea once a day or up to twice a day. The tea is spicy so keep that in mind when drinking it. Due to the ginger and pepper it's got a lot of zip in it. So if you do not like spices tea is probably not for you. As always I'm not a doctor and if you are taking any sort of medications or have any medical conditions it is always best to consult a medical professional before consuming anything that you are not used to. I hope this video and post was informative and will be helpful to somebody. I know for me that these spices and herbs have helped me tremendously. I am excited to do more of these types of videos as I start to blend the herbal side of my business with the floral side. If you enjoyed this video and got something from it please share it with a friend!
