Back to school is happening Monday and we wanted to do a breakfast special for the parents/students that is fast and easy, we will have breakfast sandwiches premade with sausage or bacon on a plain bagel in our food warmer for easier grab and go. Each breakfast sandwich will be $5. They will come with a single sausage, egg and cheese or 3 slices of bacon, egg and cheese. Since each sandwich is always made to order this will help with wait times.

I have a couple of big thank you’s to mention.

The first is for City Service Electric Company. One of my customers who came Saturday reached out and they helped me get my outlet going within a few days of my Saturday breaker blowing snafu. They were very professional, worked within my schedule after we closed for the day, were fast, ran the lines thru the existing pipes and not just hanging about and left the area super clean. I just want to say a big thank you!! Everything has worked perfectly since and the sandwich wait time has dramatically reduced.

The second and most importantly is to my customers. Someone offered to buy my bagel shop last week. Obviously I turned him down on the spot since this has been a labor of love for me. Later I got to thinking how you have shared your lives with me and how I’ve gotten to know a lot of you. You’ve shared milestones like bringing their new babies for me to meet, new relationships or existing spouses, deaths of loved ones, sharing health concerns, words of incouragement, new accomplishments and just general news like new plants, recipes, hobbies or something they built. I realized how sad I would be to not have you all in my life as I think of you all as family now and look forward to seeing everyone when you come in when I’m not in the back. My grandfather would be proud of me as I am following his lead. He knew all the customers who came into his grocery store and that is what I strived to accomplish when I opened. I may not know everyone and their names but we are new and I promise to eventually know you all.

I finally got around to making homemade stuffing for our gobble sandwich. Carved turkey with stuffing, mayo and cranberry sauce.

Old Bay cheddar bagels on the menu today 😉.

Update: I was kinda skeptical making these but it was a requested flavor. I had one on a sausage sandwich and I will say I am a fan. Kinda like a cheddar bay biscuit but in bagel form.

Today was our biggest day since we opened and it could have turned into a Greek tragedy, my food warmer blew a breaker and I didn’t realize until the temperature of the food was in the danger zone. I had to throw it all out right before our peak rush time. I had orders piling up, having to start over with a lobby full of customers and a wall of tickets pouring in. This is when you decide to roll up your sleeves, start over and muster thru it all. You feel like you are letting your customers down by making them wait longer than normal. It’s frustrating and it makes you want to throw in the towel and cry. Then you just breath and realize your standards are high, that’s why your reputation is great and you want everyone to have a great sandwich so you start from scratch. Things happen but today I realized what I am made of and I can do this no matter what happens, one sandwich at a time until the tickets are done. If for some reason during the crazy rush having to start over today, you were not completely satisfied with your sandwich bagel, please let me know and I will make it right. I want to continue to keep my standards the best that they can possibly be for my customers.

On a side note if anyone has a trustworthy electrician they can recommend please let me know. I have to get my outlet looked at. I have another one I can use in the meantime but I want to make sure we don’t have this problem again.
