Not all dehumidifiers are created equal.
The one you keep in your basement is built to keep a room comfortable. It pulls moisture from the air slowly and fills a small bucket you have to empty.
A restoration grade dehumidifier is a different machine entirely. It pulls far more moisture out of the air, keeps working even when the air is already dry, and runs nonstop for days while draining right out of the space. Paired with air movers, it pulls moisture out of wet drywall, flooring, and framing, not just the air around them.
Using a household unit after a water loss can leave moisture trapped in your walls and floors, which is how mold takes hold even when the room feels dry.
The right equipment makes all the difference.
