Queen Anne's Lace Cakes This page features past creations of Ann Alexander of Queen Anne’s Lace Cakes. She is no longer ac And the rest is history. So many ideas, so little time.

A lifelong artist and gardener, Ann Alexander has added Cake Artistry to her long list of passionate pursuits. After several requests from event planners to design upscale wedding cakes for their clients with discerning tastes, Ann decided to revisit the decorating techniques she had developed at her mother's side, adding her own personal skill and style. An artist all her life, Ann is an illustra

tor, designer and painter who also happens to bake. During her years at the Columbus College of Art and Design, she studied as a visual arts major with an emphasis in advertising. Her years in retail gave her valued experience in providing quality customer service. A wide variety of freelance work has enhanced her ability to think outside the box. And now as the list of clients anxious to devour her latest work of art continues to grow, life as an Artist-Who-Bakes is anything but dull. Ann is known for her ability to create unique cakes for her clients' special events. Her training as an artist allows her to expertly paint beautiful designs and images directly onto the cake surface with stunning results. Sculpting in sugar and chocolate as well as cake itself, she is able to create three-dimensional designs and decorations with amazing accuracy. Known also for her calligraphic skills, she enjoys adding her signature lettering to her cakes. Her experience as a gardener has inspired her to lovingly recreate delicious blooms in sugar and chocolate. Each blossom and leaf are individually crafted and are often mistaken for the flowers they represent. Along the way, Ann has become well acquainted with many avenues in the arts, including portraiture, watercolor miniatures, sculpture and her own line of handmade greeting cards. She has designed Wedding Albums, Baby Books and calendars, each filled with delicate ink drawings and hand lettering. Constantly inspired by verses from the Bible, she offers them artistically displayed on a wide variety of items. Ann also enjoys making personalized favors, invitations and cards for her clients using anything from beautiful papers, watercolor paintings, and pressed flowers to petit-fours, hand-painted cake pops to hundreds of baby cakes. Ann welcomes the challenge of creating one of a kind designs that bring her clients' vision to life. Her original ideas and attention to detail make each cake an edible work of art, and each work of art a feast for the eyes.

This page is a representation of my years as a cake artist. Although I no longer bake professionally, I enjoy looking back at the many works I was able to make for others. I hope you do as well.

One of the most ambitious weddings I’ve ever done. Each of the 20 or so cake tables had a small cake and I made Rudolph characters out of modeling chocolate and fondant for each one. Call me crazy but I thought it was kinda fun!

Tonight's wedding had a Rudolph, Clarice & Bumble on the main cake. It also had a cake on every guest table with a character from the movie :) So cute and festive!

Still one of my favorite cakes!
