A sweetheart cake for the newlyweds 💕

My sister wanted a basic heart cake with vintage piping which correlated with her dress.

Fun fact, my sister wore the dress that our grandmother and mother wore to get married in. It was 67 years old and cost my grandmother $120 in the 1950s to purchase.

Getting to contribute to my sister’s wedding in such a special way is something that will forever be a highlight in my history as Cilly Cakes. I hope one day I’ll be able to be a part of another wedding. I can only imagine what Cilly will dream up when it comes her time!

Thanks for sticking it out through all of my posts about these cakes! I’m damn proud of myself for this challenge and could share so much more but will mostly leave it at that.

After purchasing two additional upright freezers, I began working on the cakes about three weeks out from the wedding in their separate pieces. I spent well over 40 hours between making batches of frosting, baking the cake layers, assembling, decorating and of course cleaning up. The majority of the cakes made it up to the venue in one car ride and the remaining went up in a second the next day.

I promise tomorrow is basically my last post about these cakes 🤪

The cake flavors included banana caramel (green), chocolate (blue), pumpkin (orange), vanilla bean berry (mauve) and white chocolate raspberry (white). Each cake was a 7 inch round double layer to feed 8-10 people. My sister purchased cake cutters for each table and encouraged people to share the flavors between tables!

This video was taken the day after the reception as we were cleaning up so don’t mind the mess in the background

In total, there were 26 cakes for each table that served not only as dessert but as decoration. I also made the cake my sister and brother in law cut into and the cake for the bridal dance. My sister received sneak peeks last night from her photographer including some table scape shots. Check the comments!

Remember when I said I had a large private event at the end of September? I will be sharing all about it this week!

A couple months back, a bride reached out to me about a trend she saw where instead of traditional wedding cake for guests each table had their own cake to cut after dinner. I knew this would be a big task and was trying to think of ways to get out of committing to it but when the bride is your sister you don’t have an option!

Get ready to be spammed by pictures and details of the cakes that were enjoyed by our family and friends over the weekend 💕

I’m inside at the Greene Academy today! What’s Smokin’ BBQ is set up outside with online ordering and my friends with Treasure In Jars are braving the rain. Plus, many vendors inside selling their crafts, clothing and jewelry.

Well today was an experience - you guys wiped me out of the majority of what I had for the full weekend 💕

Tomorrow, I will still be set up at the Covered Bridge Festival in Carmichaels again! See the updated menu for what I will have available.

Sorry for all that missed out on the full menu - I’m choosing sleep over being beside the oven tonight 😴
