Why was I was making Christmas cookies this week? Here is why!

I’ve linked the news story about the event in my comments, Christmas for Lorie 🎄. Tuesday I was asked to make 5doz cookies for the event, and was happy to drop them off yesterday morning for their celebration. Kindness cookies always warm my heart 💕

Thank you Scott Swan for covering this event, and showing the magic of a neighborhood, coming together to honor her memory.

I. Am. Physically. Exhausted. (And already in bed). Three kayak trips in 6 days has officially worn us out.

I took some photos of some of the obstacles we encounter. No new fallen trees since our float yesterday. We were able to enjoy co-existing with the wood ducks again, there were 15 in the flock today, also a couple deer, couple eagles and everything in between 🛶

Dear Diary: Another perfect day, another day on the creek 🛶. Not a cloud in the sky the entire time. It’s almost the end or our kayak season, it’s a little shallower each hour. We don’t need much to float, really only 4”, but getting in and out to drag over rocks gets old at our age. 5yrs ago we’d go even we had get out and and drag the boats half the time, we were so greedy to go 😅. It’s amazing the change in the water in just 4 days. Creeks do be like that. New tree down, but I was able to hop out and break some branches to get through. Easy peasy.

I had never seen a flock of wood ducks, only a single here or there. They didn’t get scared or fly away, just peacefully floated next to us for a while. Matt was recording, I was up ahead of him just out of shot, holding my breath trying to be silent and so grateful for the experience 💕

I apologize, I was not able to make more Carrie Jo cookies. A last minute request came Tuesday night for some cookies for event tomorrow, and my heart could never say no to spreading some kindness their way again this year 🎄. I feel Carrie would approve of my decision 😌

This weekend I will be making more cookies for ZsaZsa to pass out friends Monday 🥰. I will hold another 🐷 fundraiser in a few weeks. I will also be making cookies for the staff and volunteers In a couple weeks, and Zsa and I will hand deliver them with the cash received over the last few weeks💕. Thank you everyone for participating, I truly appreciate every one of you ☺️

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Update on Carrie Jo cookies…..I received a last minute kindness cookie request Tuesday night, so I shifted some things around to accommodate the heartwarming event. My time yesterday was spent spending time with ZsaZsa and then making Christmas cookies late into the night ☺️ 🎄

There will not be cookies out today, but Friday there will be winter/Christmas theme cookies ❄️. I will post photos in the morning of what will be available. Same price point of $3, 2 for $5 ($30/doz)and you pay direct to Oinking Acres 💕🐷

What do you do when Monday brings sunshine and 77°? Kayak of course 💕🛶.

We never know, float to float, what kind of obstacles to expect, given the nature of it being a creek. After such heavy rain and fast discharge, there were guaranteed to be a few dicey spots. Luckily, there was only one spot where we had to MacGyver it under a tree (that usually isn’t a problem when the water is 2” lower). Mother Nature always wins, and we are always mentally prepared for snakes, giant rocks, fallen trees and different current patterns along the way 💕

It was absolutely stunning day, surrounded by nature and good vibes. We are going again on Friday ✌🏻☀️🌳🦌🦅

I am making the next round of Carrie Jo cookies tomorrow afternoon, if anyone has suggestions or requests, just let me know! The cookies will be back out and stocked Thursday afternoon. The 27th & 28th will be the last days to grab cookies for an amazing cause. 🐓🐖. (You pay direct to Oinking Acres, my suggested donation is $3 or 2/$5 $30/doz, however any amount is appreciated. Please mention Carrie Jo on your payment note to them).

🐷The next round of Carrie Jo cookies for Oinking Acres Farm Rescue & Sanctuary will be out at 9am tomorrow, Wednesday🐷

I was able to get 5 dozen completed yesterday: 12 baseballs, 12 basketballs, 12 red snowcones and 24 pigs. The prices are $3/ea or 2/$5. There are payment info slips in the cooler to take, as well as taped inside and out of the cooler, with payment instructions direct to Oinking Acres. If payment by cash, you may leave it in the cooler. *Please note this is self serve and I will not be able to make change 🙃

As payments don’t go through me, I have no way of tracking the donations. Based on my calculations of what left the cooler, I’m guessing around $300. My goal is $500 by the end of August 💕🐷
