My sister works with unhoused youth in Shelton, Washington. She has started raising funds for food boxes and ready eat meals to offer those affected by the shutdown and suspension of SNAP benefits. If you feel like making a difference and don’t know where to start, THIS is a great place to start.
I also suggest looking into your local food banks and helping there if you’d rather be more local.

Come on down to McClendon's Old Fashioned Meats and Smokehouse for this week’s restock on tasty things!
Unfortunately, this will be my last restock for the year. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things in a few months when life gets less messy.

It’s easy to remember the flavor of this cake because this family of customers always orders the same thing. Chocolate cake with vanilla custard filling and vanilla buttercream. 💙💜❤️
This particular edition is Plants vs Zombies!
All the figurines are hand sculpted out of Modeling Chocolate, which is MUCH tastier than Fondant and easier to work with.

I used a multilayered stencil that I made myself for airbrushing Vegeta and it’s frosted with whipped cream frosting.
I was very proud of how clean the lines turned out! Nothing crazy, it’s just one of my favorites.

I have come to the realization that some of you forgot or just plain don’t know that I have a talent for cake making and decorating! So for the next few weeks I’m going to be featuring my favorite creations over the last 11 years!
Starting with my own wedding cake!
This simple yet effective cake has a top and bottom tier of Lemon Poppyseed cake with lemon curd filling and a middle tier of Cherry Chocolate Chip cake with chocolate ganache filling. It’s covered in an Italian Buttercream and handmade (by yours truly) paper roses made from specifically ‘picked’ comic books.

I have bad news…. There will be no restock of my Sourdough bread this week at McClendon's Old Fashioned Meats and Smokehouse. Turns out I added twice as much salt as I was supposed to and the only thing that’s rising is your blood pressure if I bake this bread! Sorry! Let me know if you can’t live without it!

Fun fact about me!
Whenever I’m baking in the commercial kitchen I always listen to podcasts of movie “spoilers”. Basically it’s someone describing a movie scene by scene. This is because I have an adhd brain and need my brain to do something while my body is working. I started with The Rewatcher:Buffy the Vampire Slayer, then moved to Romancing the Podcast (all Rom-Com), currently I’m binging Ruined! which is all Horror. It makes time go by a lot faster however I’ve had a few moments of absolute terror from sounds in the hallway outside the kitchen door to the kitchen manager poking her head in. Most recently was the construction worker that surprised me at 8am to let me know he was there, while I was listening to Friday the 13th, and when he popped into the kitchen to make his presence known I SCREAMED my most startled scream and then had to take a few second to gain composure.
I did give him a Caramel Oatmeal Cookie as an oopsie gift. 😬
