Whew!! talk about cutting it close! This strawberry champagne torte cake is a last-minute order, with alternating champagne sponge and strawberry sponge layers. The fillings are alternating layers of sliced fresh strawberries and strawberry confit. I wish I could reveal the inner beauty of a slice. The buttercream frosting is ombre- style strawberry and champagne. The gentleman's request for a strawberry shortcake figurine topper had me crossing my fingers, but Amazon's 2-day delivery promise turned into a comedy of errors, and no figurine topper on day #4!!!! So, I tried to make up for that with the two-flavor torte layers, fillings, and gum paste flowers with sparkle dust - a two-week notice is so important folks, but I'll take miracles over complaints any day! Fingers crossed the wife loves it. Thanks for the support, Canyon - you're the sprinkles on my cake, the icing on my heart, and the secret ingredient that keeps me going!
