It is the smell of love coming from the oven," says Heather Nagel, the newest and freshest baker in town. For her, she has been baking for as long as she can remember. It all started when she was just 9 or 10 years old and found herself in the kitchen baking cupcakes and cookies. As time passed, she reveled in trying new and different recipes and only got better with time.
“My mom was a baker an
d so were my grandmothers. They taught me to make our family favorites, tarts and povitica cake. So it basically runs in the family”. After becoming a mother, she quickly became one who was often asked to make a "batch of this" or a "pan of that". “It would warm my heart when my kids would come home from school and ask what smells so good or their anticipation of a fresh loaf of bread ready to come out of the oven. Baking is love made edible.
“Some of my specialties are breads, tarts, turnovers, croissants, and fluffins”. So the next time you happen to be in Michigan, there is only one place which sells the Fluffin. And what is a Fluffin, you ask?
“It is a pastry cooked in a muffin shape. It is buttery, flaky, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, and can be filled with two different berry fillings.”
She specializes in pastries and the amazing range that she bakes is scrumptious, and will always leave you wanting more. Finally, the most important question, what is her special ingredient?
“Love.”
