Did you know these things about Sourdough?

🍞 Sourdough doesn't have to be sour! The name "sourdough" actually refers to the method of leavening bread with a "sour dough" which in this case is the sourdough starter.
🍞 Sourdough starter can be suspended in time. It's true--if you leave it on the counter, you have to feed it regularly to keep it kicking and active. But you can actually dehydrate active sourdough starter and it will last indefinitely. Kind of like cryosleep in space🚀
🍞 Although sourdough is not gluten free, the lactic acid produced during fermentation does significantly reduce gluten in the dough, making it a bread that many gluten sensitive people can actually enjoy!

I will be back at The Milkbarn in California, MO this Saturday with Sourdough bread created from a 225+ year old starter originating from a French bakery in the early 1800s. It produces a light, springy dough with an easy taste. If you've wanted to try sourdough, but don't care for the sour taste usually associated with this bread, this may just be the sourdough for you!
Quantities will be limited so come early. 10-2pm this Saturday.

Starting in September, sourdough bread will be back each Saturday at The Milkbarn in California, MO!

But along with sourdough bread, I’ll be offering orders on other breads, tortillas, cookies, cookie dough and if you can dream it, I can bake it!
