Huge congratulations to our friends at Ahillen Acres !!
OKAY… IT’S TIME TO LET THE SECRET OUT.
A few days ago, I told y’all we had a secret.
Judging by some of the guesses, I think a few of you were expecting us to announce a new animal, a new building, some huge expansion, or another crazy idea I’d gotten myself into. 😂
So I hope this doesn’t disappoint anybody…
Because there isn’t anything “new” coming to Ahillen Acres (today anyway 😉)
Instead, somebody noticed what we’ve already been doing.
And I’m pretty proud of this one.
🇺🇸 AHILLEN ACRES HAS BEEN SELECTED AS THE SEPTEMBER FARM OF THE MONTH BY AMERICANS FOR FAMILY FARMERS! 🇺🇸
When I first found out, I honestly had to sit with it for a minute.
Because this little farm wasn’t handed to me as a working farm.
When I got this ground, it was just that—ground.
Everything you see here today has been built from it. The fences. The animals. The gardens. The chickens. The pigs in the woods. The products. The markets. The customers. The mistakes. The lessons. The late nights, early mornings, busted equipment, muddy boots and plenty of moments where I wondered what the hell I had gotten myself into.
We aren’t a giant operation.
We don’t have hundreds or thousands of acres.
We’re just a small family farm in Arkansas trying to raise animals the way we believe they should be raised, take care of the ground we’re responsible for, produce good food, waste as little as possible, and somehow make a living doing it.
And apparently… people are paying attention.
Americans for Family Farmers says its Farm of the Month recognition is for farms that exemplify what farming in America should be—farms that respect their land and prioritize the comfort and well-being of the animals in their care.
Being chosen for September 2026 means a hell of a lot to me.
Not because we’re perfect. Lord knows we’re not.
But because it feels like recognition that maybe this crazy little thing my family and I have been building matters.
And none of it happens without the people who buy a chicken from us, grab a package of pork, pick up some salsa, try one of our soaps, stop by our market booth, share one of our posts, tell a friend about us, or simply follow along with this ridiculous adventure.
YOU helped build Ahillen Acres too.
So yeah…
The big secret wasn’t that we’re becoming something new.
❤️ It’s that somebody noticed what we’ve become.
And I’m incredibly proud to finally say:
🇺🇸🐷🐔🌱 Ahillen Acres — Americans for Family Farmers’ September Farm of the Month. 🌱🐔🐷🇺🇸
Thank y’all for being part of it.
