It’s National Biscuit Day — or as we like to call it in the bakery world, the unofficial celebration of tea cookies, shortbread, and all things buttery, crumbly, and perfectly dunkable. 🍪☕✨

This is the kind of day that feels like it was made for slow moments—hot tea in your favorite mug, a plate of delicate biscuits beside it, and just enough quiet to forget what time it is.

Whether you love a classic shortbread that melts the second it hits your tongue, a lightly sweet tea biscuit, or those crisp little cookies that somehow disappear one “just one more” at a time… today is their day to shine.

Simple ingredients. Cozy flavor. Pure comfort in every bite.

So go ahead—brew the tea, open the cookie tin, and make a little time for something sweet and unhurried. 🍯

It’s National Hamburger Day — and while we don’t exactly flip burgers in the bakery, we do make something that shows up right next to almost every single one of them: the bun. 🍔✨

Soft, golden, fresh-baked buns are the unsung hero of a good burger. Without them, it’s just a pile of great ingredients with nowhere to go. So yes… we’re officially claiming this as a bakery holiday too. Bread deserves its moment.

Today is also World Hunger Day and I wanted to mention it because food insecurity is huge in our country.

Food is something so many of us take for granted, but hunger is still a very real issue in our communities. No one should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from.

Awareness days like today are a reminder that even small actions—supporting local food banks, donating, or simply not wasting food—can make a real difference. ❤️

Why cold butter matters for pie crust

Cold butter creates steam pockets while baking, producing flaky layers instead of a dense crust.

It’s National Grape Popsicle Day — and honestly, it couldn’t have arrived at a better time.

The weather’s warming up, the days are getting longer, and that freezer door is basically calling your name. This is your sign to start stocking up on cool, sweet treats that taste like summer in every bite. 🍇❄️

There’s something nostalgic about a grape popsicle—the bold fruity flavor, the icy snap, the way it instantly fixes a hot day mood. Whether you’re grabbing them for the kids, the porch, or your own “I deserve this” moment, now’s the perfect time to fill that freezer.

And if you want to make your own at home, here’s a super simple, ridiculously tasty recipe:

Easy Homemade Grape Popsicles 🍇

Ingredients:

2 cups seedless grapes (red or purple)
1–2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, depending on sweetness)
1/2 cup water or coconut water
1 tsp lemon juice (brightens the flavor)

Instructions:

Wash grapes and toss them into a blender.
Add water (or coconut water), honey, and lemon juice.
Blend until completely smooth.
Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
Pour into popsicle molds.
Insert sticks and freeze for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight.
Run molds under warm water for a few seconds to release.

That’s it—no fuss, just pure frozen grape goodness.

So go ahead… stock the freezer now. Future-you will be very, very grateful when the heat hits. 🍇

It just so happens to also be National Cherry Dessert Day… so we’re calling it a win-win in the bakery today 💙🍒

If you can’t decide between rich, creamy blueberry cheesecake or something sweet and tart with cherries, here’s your solution: go half and half. A blueberry cheesecake topped on one side, cherry dessert magic on the other—because dessert indecision should always be deliciously solved.

Two berry holiday. One very happy dessert situation. 🍰✨

Today is National Blueberry Cheesecake Day — and honestly, it feels like a public service announcement more than a holiday. Because if there was ever a dessert that deserved its own fan club, it’s this one.

Creamy, rich cheesecake with that sweet-tart blueberry topping that almost convinces you it’s healthy because fruit is involved… almost.

Whether you love it baked tall and classic, swirled with blueberries inside, or piled high with glossy blueberry compote on top, today is the day to say yes without hesitation.

So celebrate accordingly: fork in hand, no regrets, and maybe an extra napkin (or three). 🍰💙🫐

🇺🇸🍓 Memorial Day 🍓🇺🇸

Before the cookouts start, the grills fire up, and the dessert tables fill up… let's take a few moments to acknowledge that Memorial Day is really about remembering and honoring the men and women who gave their lives serving this country.

It’s easy to get caught up in the long weekend side of it all, but above all else, the BBQs, family gatherings, and summer kickoff traditions, is a day rooted in sacrifice and remembrance ❤️

That being said… gathering together with family, sharing food, laughing around picnic tables, and making memories is also part of what makes the weekend feel meaningful for so many people.

And around here, Memorial Day cookouts usually mean:
🌭 Burgers & hotdogs
🍉 Watermelon
🥔 Potato salad
🍰 And at least one red, white, and blue dessert 😅

So if you need something easy, pretty, and absolutely delicious for the weekend… here’s a favorite 🇺🇸👇

🍓 Red, White & Blue Trifle
1 prepared angel food cake (cubed)
2 cups strawberries (sliced)
1–2 cups blueberries
2 boxes instant vanilla pudding
3 cups cold milk
1 tub whipped topping OR homemade whipped cream (see recipe on our page)

1️⃣ Prepare pudding according to package directions and chill.
2️⃣ In a large trifle dish or bowl, layer:

Angel food cake cubes
Vanilla pudding
Whipped topping
Strawberries & blueberries

3️⃣ Repeat layers until full.
4️⃣ Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

It’s light, cold, easy to throw together, and somehow disappears ridiculously fast every single time 😂

However you spend Memorial Day, I hope it’s full of good food, good people, and a moment to remember why the holiday exists ❤️🇺🇸
