Looking ahead to the brrr….months, I’ve been cleaning up my recipe book, revisiting old favorites and thinking ahead to the flavors of autumn 🍁

And now I suddenly feel an almost urgent need to make cinnamon swirl bread. 🍂

Soft, tender bread with those beautiful ribbons of cinnamon running through every slice… toasted until the edges are just a little crisp and finished with butter.

I already know what’s going to be on my snack list this afternoon… a Serenity Chunk Cookie. 🍪

Are there any other cravers out there? You know—the kind of craving where once a certain food pops into your head, nothing else is going to quite do it. 😂

Our Serenity Chunk is a rich chocolate chip cookie loaded with semi-sweet and dark chocolate, with just a kiss of peanut butter and a little salt to balance all that sweetness. Soft and chewy in the center, with those slightly crisp edges… it satisfies.

We honestly are never without these cookies in our freezer. When the craving hits, I pull one out, let it come to room temperature for about 15–20 minutes and that’s it.

I’m already looking forward to Rosemary Sourdough grilled cheese on Sunday. 🤎

I love a good sandwich loaf—there’s absolutely a place for those beautiful, even slices—but when it comes to grilled cheese, give me a rustic boule with that gorgeous domed top.

Because eating isn’t just about taste.

The very best food experiences involve all of our senses.

First, you see that deeply golden, blistered crust and beautiful rounded loaf.

Then you slice into it and feel the texture of the sourdough beneath your hands.

You smell the rosemary.

You hear that little crisp as you bite through the grilled crust.

Then comes the contrast—the crunch of the outside, the tender interior, that unmistakable sourdough chew…and, of course, all that warm melted cheese.

Sight. Smell. Sound. Touch. Taste.

When all of those things come together, something as incredibly simple as bread + butter + cheese becomes an experience.

And sometimes, simple food done really well is the very best kind of food.

And those beautiful little bubbles and blisters covering the surface? Do you want to know what they indicate? I’ll share that in the comments. 🤎

Playing in the Bakehouse kitchen tonight… 🍪

Meet a little test-run cookie we’re calling Midnight Peanut Butter Crunch.

A big 3-ounce peanut butter cookie topped with crushed Oreo, dark chocolate and just enough salty crunch to balance all that goodness.

This one is still in the testing phase—because I’m really trying to be intentional about not putting anything on the Bakehouse menu until I’ve made it, tweaked it and know it’s something I’m proud to offer.

But I have a feeling you may be seeing Midnight Peanut Butter Crunch make its official debut at our next pickup. 👀

For now… we’re taste testing. Tough job, I know. 😂
