From my kitchen to the wedding table. 🤍

Remember the Books & Bubbles bridal shower? I had the pleasure of creating for this sweet family again — this time for the wedding day. 🤍

The bride wanted something simple and organic, so this one left my kitchen with softly textured buttercream and a plan.

Then my sweet friend and floral designer, Elizabeth Barrett of (), worked her magic at the venue. 🌸 I absolutely love how the flowers brought everything together — especially with the rustic wood slice and that beautiful gold topper.

Sometimes the simplest cakes are just waiting for their finishing touch.

Congratulations to the newlyweds! It was such a privilege to be a small part of both the shower and the wedding day. 🤍

KK’s Bakes will be closed Friday, October 16 – Sunday, October 18, and I'll be back to baking on Monday, October 19!

When the inspiration photo is AI…we figure out how to make it exist in buttercream. ♠️✨

My client had a very specific Casino Royale inspiration image in mind for this 40th birthday cake, so my job was to take that concept and turn it into something I could actually create — and something that would still feel like a KK’s Bakes cake.

Two tiers, tuxedo details, playing cards, poker chips, metallic gold and plenty of tiny details later...Casino Royale came to life. ♠️♥️♣️♦️

And here's a little baker decision you might not notice from the photo: instead of loading regular buttercream with enough black food coloring to get this deep shade, I used black chocolate buttercream. Cocoa-y flavor, rich color...and a much smaller chance of sending an entire birthday party home with black teeth. 😂

My client was happy with the finished cake — and so was I.

And the best part? After the party, my client sent me this photo of the cake all set up and left the sweetest Google review:

Berry sweet, with a vintage twist. 🍓🎀
Strawberries, gingham bows, tiny strawberry flowers and layers of buttercream piping made this baby shower cake just about as sweet as they come.
I especially loved mixing the Strawberry Shortcake-inspired details with the vintage piping style — and those gingham bows may have stolen the show. ❤️

From wedding guest…to KK’s Bakes customer. 🤍🥂📚

Earlier this summer, this mom attended a wedding where I had provided cupcakes. She remembered them — and when it came time to celebrate her own daughter's upcoming wedding, she sought me out.

These pink western-meets-“Books & Bubbles” cookies were for the bridal shower, and I'll also have the privilege of making a small cake for the wedding.

I never take for granted that something I make for one celebration can quietly lead me to another family’s special day. 💕

And I'll save that wedding cake for another post...

A little Blue, a little Magenta, and a whole lot of buttercream. 💙🩷💜

This sweet little cake was made for Margot’s first birthday — with Blue and Magenta peeking over the top and plenty of colorful piping to celebrate turning ONE!

Sometimes the sweetest compliment comes after the cake is gone. 💍

The mom who ordered this bridal shower cake used to make cakes herself, but with two daughters getting married within a few months of each other, she decided that this time she wanted to simply enjoy being Mom. I was honored that she trusted me with the cake instead. 🤍

Her bride-to-be loved both the look and the taste — and just a few days later, Mom ordered a wedding tasting box for both daughters and their fiancés to sample four of my cake flavors as they plan their upcoming weddings.

Sometimes two colors are all you need. 🤎

I loved the simplicity of this Talavera-inspired birthday cake — warm brown buttercream piping against a soft white background, with all of the detail coming from the pattern itself.

Even better? This one was for a returning customer, who told me the finished cake was beautiful. 🤎
