I’ll be out of the kitchen for a few weeks but will update as soon as I am back :)
Update on our Madi Rose…
Last Monday, we came to Houston for a 3-week CIMT program—an intensive therapy for her left hand. Her stronger hand/arm is casted to encourage use of her weaker hand/arm. She does therapy for 4 hours a day, Monday through Thursday, and she’s been extremely sore from the hard work.
We are already seeing improvement after 1 week, which is so exciting!
We weren’t able to get into the Ronald McDonald House this trip, so we’re staying in a hotel—but Amelia is happy about that since they have a pool. One benefit of the hotel is that we’re able to go home on the weekends. We were home this weekend, took Madi to a church youth conference on Friday, and were able to celebrate Easter at church and with our family before coming back to Houston last night.
Madi has also been on the waiting list for Lokomat, which helps train her muscles and hopefully allows her to walk unassisted again. After her hip surgery, she hasn’t been able to return to her baseline. They called Thursday morning and were able to work her in while we’re here, so she started that this morning! Our 3-week stay may be extended, but it will be worth it. This adds an additional hour of therapy to her day, but she is excited and working so hard. We are so proud of her.
Amelia is being the best helper and cheerleader! This is a lot for her too, being away from home and her daddy (she’s definitely a daddy’s girl), but she has done great.
Please pray for good results, and pray for us as we adjust to being under different roofs for a while.
God has opened doors and guided us every step of the way to make this possible. We will continue to trust and follow his plan.
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31
