What an interesting history! We are proud to be a part of it. ❤️

In 1944 Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Nichols bought the bake shop at 808 Waukegan Road and in 1954 moved across the street to 813 Waukegan. The photo is from the new location shortly after the grand opening of the new shop. The Nichols two sons took over the business in 1962 and ran it until 1972 when it was sold to the Schmitt family. The Schmitts in turn ran the bakery until 2018. Under current ownership Deerfields Bakery & Cafe remains a beloved local institution.
