With a sad and heavy heart, I must say... Oh My Soul Cookies & Cakes will be closing. As I have tried to navigate the future these past months, we have been temporarily closed. As of now, our Bakery will be permanently closed.
I say “our Bakery”, because it has been a family effort these past 12 years. My Husband, Robert was by my side every step of the way. He did all the construction on and in the Shop, he supported me through the day-to-day work, he made my vision on extravagant cakes possible, he encouraged me when I doubted myself, and he was the BEST Taste Tester, ever. Our two Sons, who we are so proud of, would pitch in whenever it was needed. My amazing Sister-in-law Lisa, has been my right hand through many, many hours of cookies and cakes. I also had wonderful family members and friends who were the best PR Team a girl could ask for.
Since my Husband passed away in 2023, life has changed for us all. With careful consideration towards the future, I’m having to take a new path in life, and unfortunately, the Bakery is not part of that journey.
When I look back over the years, I'm emotional about what we were able to accomplish with our Small Business. We built a state and county licensed Bakery in a 450 sq. ft. enclosed garage. We’ve provided thousands of cookies and cakes for amazing customers locally and across the County. We’ve been a part of many weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and all things Aggie. We’ve hosted events, sold cookies wholesale, provided holiday treats for corporations, and made countless deliveries. Out of all those occasions, the one thing that truly touched my heart, was the smile of a child when they saw their birthday cake. That smile would be pure joy. It’s funny how the little things touch you the most.
Our biggest event was baking and designing 800 servings of cake to celebrate President George H. W. Bush and Mrs. Bush on their birthdays at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. We were honored with that privilege for 7 years, and it's one I will never forget.
From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank all of our customers! It’s been an honor and a privilege to know you and to bake for you. Thank you for your word-of-mouth referrals, your social media referrals, and your online reviews. For all who shared and promoted Oh My Soul Cookies & Cakes, you have been greatly appreciated.
I will truly miss so many wonderful things I’ve experienced in having the Bakery. I met so many amazing people, I had the opportunity to be creative, and I loved that my scratch-baked treats were enjoyed. My Grandma Pate taught me how to scratch-bake when I was young. A true blessing in itself. I was able to create Grandma Pate’s Applesauce Cake Collection from a family recipe that spans generations. It was a dream come true to share such an important family cake with others. From the very beginning, my number one goal has been to bring others happiness with cookies and cakes. I hope I was able to accomplish that.
I’m going to remind myself going forward... “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”. I know God has something fabulous in my future. I hope it’s something where I can bring joy to others, and get to experience a little for myself.
Blessings always,
Rhonda White, Owner
