This business started years ago in the kitchen of Adlet Whing Taylor. As the baby of 14, I stayed under my mothers feet so it was just appropriate for me to be the kitchen helper. As I remembered my mother would cook a huge Sunday meal and it was my job to help her with dinner and my sisters had the other chores. So I’ve always had the love for cooking and baking as I watched closely because Mother didn’t use written recipes, she would just reach in the cabinets for her ingredients and came out with these tasteful desserts (mostly cakes). Then as a teenager, after my mother was forced to stop working because of her felling health, she started baking devil crabs and we children and grands had to go out and sell them on Fridays and Saturdays.
Well fast forward, in 1998 I meets this man which is know as D.J. (Danieul Kerns) the last available bachelor on St. Simons Island...lol and he speaks something into my life unknowingly. Baby your cakes already taste great, and if you would learn how to decorate them better then you could charge more money...lol.. which never really happened (the more $$) until we went into a brick and mortal storefront.
Reverse to the spring of 2010, I couldn’t find a job and after much prayer I asked God what was I going to do since I needed to go back to work. That’s when I literally had a dream one night and saw theses little cakes in the clear wrapper with the curly strings (like my mother use to do my hair) and that’s what made me pay attention to the dream. So fast forward I went on the hunt for the supplies that I needed and that’s when Linda’s Cupcakes and More was birthed into existence, September 1, 2010! So it was just fitting that after 5 years of running a Friday route and Saturday farmers market at Mary Ross Park, that we opened the Cupcake shop on September 1, 2015!!!
So giving honor where honor is due, God, DJ, and my pastor/brother Robert Johnson believed in me before I believed in myself and now the rest is history!!!
