Dreaming/doodling out ideas as we have 'potentially' the opportunity for a storefront (again). Remembering past errors on the bakery side, what do you need to see in a (initially carry out only) storefront? Hours? Coffee? A ridiculous amount of vegan options (yes!!)? Adding a small deli? Would have to do phases to get to an eat-in option/cost restrictive initially. Throwing out ideas....

Here it goes, ready or not. Since the facility was damaged by fire on 2/3/19, the storefront entity has to have a new name, in case I want the same business name when I get the next storefront. The new entity is called Cake Joy & falls under the cottage laws to sell direct to the public, not other retailers.
I will be posting updates here but only to refer customers to the new entity. We also have had some issues since the fire with harassment/bullying so please understand there will be more cautious of those who seek to harm us or our immediate family.

Business affected by building fire aims to rebuild

So the bakery side will be moved to 'cottage mode', putting us under different rules/requirements/limits. It has to be a different name/page, in the hope I can bring back the storefront after the downtown rebuild. Here is the update on the bbq side (no, we were not insured). Name suggestions? Mean people will be reported & blocked, of course. No baked goods will be sold on the 'concession trailer' :(

Still figuring things out but realistically, after missing the week before & Super Bowl Sunday, we will only selling to our OG, die hard BBQ people in Bethesda on Sunday. We hope to have some events coming soon or find a temporary place to smoke/cook soon. Keep an eye on our social media.

(Warning, long post!) So I bake, well, I used to, for a living. Just got a call from a customer I made a cake for, back in November, & he just wanted me to know how great it was. I've been having a solo pity party, for two days now, with having frozen pipes in the shop. Like big ol crocodile tears. Did it take much from him to call? No. Did it change my day? Maybe. Doing something nice, just because, is awesome. Go on about your day. Nothing to see here.

No reason to post this except it is hilarious AF. Due to losing yesterday's work time/snow-smoking restrictions, tonight will be chicken. Yep, chicken. Wings & pulled chicken. Those who have been furloughed are about to not receive their first paycheck since the shutdown. As a small business, we can only do so much but we are offering a special for those hit. We're extending the lunch special that is usually 11am-2pm to dinner as well. A smaller portion of the meal & side for $8 vs. $12. Sorry the shutdown is so sucky. We want to support those as best we can. Available until sold out Friday only.

Odd how life takes you on a path. Today is six years since the bearded one had his massive stroke which set him back to learning how to walk & cope with a less functional side of his body. Sitting outside in the sun, people watching at a Farmers Market, fascinated by the direction we've taken. Listen to your body. Take time for self care. Enjoy life as tomorrow isn't promised but it sure can change your perspective ♡
