Here's the finished wedding cake and the groom's cake that my mom made for my son with his signature word written on it by his Auntie Amanda!! This cake and its sugar flowers were made over the course of about 3 months... the cakes were baked then wrapped in plastic wrap and aluminum foil and frozen. The cakes were eventually put in an ice chest with some dry ice, the flowers carefully packed (some simply stuck into styrofoam to keep then from being bounced around) and everything very carefully loaded into the car which was then drove all the way to Flagstaff Arizona from Tulsa Oklahoma. Once there I spent the entire day before the wedding building and decorating the cake then added the flowers on site. Sadly, during the ceremony, one of the roses from the top of the cake fell down the side and shattered pieces of petals everywhere! When I came back inside and found it, I completely broke down in tears and bawled my eyes out because I wanted it to be perfect for my Munchkin and his bride. I did my best to fix and cover the damage and somehow was able to disguise everything but where the cats are "playing" in the cake so it looked somewhat intentional. Absolutely EVERYONE raved about how beautiful the cake was but also how tasty and moist it was, that alone did make me feel better.
