Update from Commissioners Court this morning — and it's good progress.
We want to thank Judge Malinak and the Lee County Commissioners for hearing us out, and everyone who sent encouragement over the past week and showed up.
Here's where things stand. Parking along the sides of our downtown streets continues just as it always has for generations — on the record. The court will take up approval of our revised planters, sized down and in line with our front steps, at an upcoming meeting. And the alleyway beside the buildings stays what it's always been: open, a working loading zone, and available to our volunteer fire department whenever they need it.
We made a commitment of our own too — to communicate more with our neighbors and the county as we go. That's fair, and we'll hold up our end. At the end of the session, we shook hands with our commissioner and our fire chief, and agreed to move forward together. I want to again personally take responsibility — having a day job and managing this remotely has made me less available to meet and communicate with our neighbors. I am going to make a point to meet as many people as I can to show everyone we are real people and that we truly have solid intentions for the community - posting on social isn't enough and I took that feedback seriously.
