Please read- I’ve been a little quiet lately, but I wanted to share an update with all of you 🤍 it's been a whirlwind of the last 4 months.

I am officially back after open lung surgery and I’m so incredibly grateful to say it was successful. They were able to remove my tumor and achieve negative margins, meaning there was no cancer left behind. Those words carry more weight than I can even put into sentences. It also means no chemotherapy or radiation, which is something I don’t take for granted, especially knowing that some neuroendocrine cancers don’t respond to those treatments. It does still mean steady monitoring and testing, which requires travel.

As much as this chapter brings relief, it has also brought a lot of clarity.

Baking has been such a huge part of my life. It’s brought me joy, purpose, and connection with so many of you. You’ve supported me, encouraged me, and allowed me to do something I truly love and I will never be able to thank you enough for that. You guys kept me so busy in my little kitchen baking daily and I LOVED IT! I truly never thought Baked would grow as much and as large as it did.

But cancer has a way of shifting everything. It’s opened my eyes to where I’m most needed right now, and that’s at home being present with my girls, soaking in the time that matters most.

So for now, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to not re-open my bakery for the time being. I will still be selling at markets here and there when and as I have the time and will announce those dates in advance. For sure will be at the Garden Market again this year on August 6th in Baxter.

This isn’t goodbye forever... it’s just a pause while I focus on healing, being present, and embracing this new perspective on life.

Thank you for every order, every kind message, every share, and every bit of support you’ve given me. It has meant more than you know. Truly... thank you for everything 🤍

I’m so grateful for this community, and I hope to be back one day when the time feels right.

Xoxo,
Kaytlyn

Please read- Hi there all my lovely and amazing friends and followers... I'm dropping by to check in and provide some updates. I've had a few people reach out and ask if I'm planning to return for Christmas bakes, so I think it's time I provide an important update and one you all deserve.

Some of you know that before my break I was facing some health challenges. And to be honest, that was a huge reason for the break. I was often not feeling well, forgetful and getting too worn out... well... at the end of November doctors found a tumor in my airway which has been causing me to feel so ill this past year. It was confirmed on my daughter's 6th birthday that I have a rare form of lung cancer. It's called a Neuroendocrine Tumor (NET) and is so rare it only makes up for about 1-2% of all cancers.

This news has shattered myself and my family. We never think it's going to happen to us... until it does.

Because it is so rare, treatments are few and far between and there are no specialists locally. I have a self-referral into Mayo Clinic as they have an NET specialist team down there, but if they accept me and my case is at their discretion. I'm awaiting a consult and I'm not too sure what my future holds and I don't think my doctors (here) are too sure yet either.

As of right now, Baked will have to remain closed and on hold as I try to figure out what comes next for myself and my family. And unfortunately I don't know when I will be able to return. As much as I would love to bake (because it makes me happy), I have to put all of my energy into working my full-time job and trying to battle this disease while still being a good and present mother.

I am scared. More scared than I've ever been in my entire life. Terrified... hurt, sad, confused and angry- but I am hopeful (kind of 😏). Mentally and emotionally I am struggling. This time last year you helped me feed the homeless, and this year I feel helpless and awful we couldn't do that again.

If I've ever asked for anything from all of you- it's to please pray for me. Pray for my family. And above all, please pray for my children. My sweet girls ❤️‍🩹 Please keep me in your thoughts and mind in hopes that I can beat this and return to whatever life looks like after this battle. I'm going to fight like hell for my girls.

I love you all and had so much fun these past few years and I hope to be back next year. Thank you for making me feel talented, special and supported. To some, it's just baked goods, but to me and my family it was the immense support and appreciation you all had for what I did.

Until then, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

As always, with love and gratitude,
Kaytlyn

Hello everyone! I'm back with an important update. After this next week/end of baking pre-standing orders, I will be taking a break through the end of the year.

Though I truly enjoy baking for you all everyday, I am desperately craving time with my family and children. I graduate this next month and for the first time in four years, I will be looking at evening and weekend free time. I would love to be able to utilize this time to spend more time with my children.

In my dreams I own a storefront and bakery, where I bake full time for people daily... but reality and real-world right now means working full-time in my role I have now. Baking sourdough in general is so time consuming, that doing it around another full-time job has left me without much time for anything else. I unfortunately don't have the energy in me right now to devote to doing it all at this time.

But with that being said, I am so looking forward to connecting deeper with my family and enjoying our time together.

Baked started just a few years ago with not a single follower and has grown into a beautiful thing that I am immensely proud of. I hope you are understanding and know that I will be back following the new year.
Until then, I know there are so many other local bakers who you could try- but I'd be lying if I said I don't hope to see many if not all of you when I return!!

Thank you for all of the following, sharing, love and support. I've loved meeting every single one of you and even through the most stressful of days, you all helped me find purpose and meaning in something I truly love doing.

I'll see you all next year, and until then, I'll keep baking for you all in my dreams.
As always, with so much gratitude,
Kaytlyn

(I will be reaching out if we have a standing order for pickup date and time)

🚨🚨Dropping by with an important update as there has been a rise in this happening since gaining more followers; if you place an order with me and pick up day/time is confirmed and you don't show up- you will not be refunded. My time and supplies are already spent. You can reschedule a pickup time, but do not expect that to be immediate over other planned and set orders. Also, please understand I will move onto the next person as I have many orders to bake for and deliver. Please understand that may place you on a hold or longer wait time for a re-make. Please understand and value my time as I value all of you and yours 🖤

Loaf feeling stiff? Did you know you can re-crisp and re-warm an already baked sourdough loaf? Dampen your bread by either spritzing or lightly running under water and pop it into an already preheated oven (350-400°) for 8-12 min, maybe longer depending on your liking.

You can also freeze your loaves to store them. Let them thaw on the counter and follow the process above ^... it's like a totally new loaf!

🚨Just a small update-- flight orders must be in by Thursday of next week (October 2nd at the latest). I will be baking and delivering in the order they come in. I will be reaching out to those who have already ordered by the end of today to discuss a few different pickup options! Thank you all immensely!!!! 🙌🖤

✨ Exciting news, friends! ✨ Sourdough Flights are back! I’m launching “Flights for a Flight”.

This is a special sale to help cover flights for myself, my mom, and my children to attend my college graduation in New Hampshire this November. I will be receiving a BA in Psychology with concentration in Adolescent Mental Health.

Earning my bachelor’s degree online has taken years of hard work, late nights, and perseverance. I have carried a 4.0GPA while working, baking and running a household. My degree is to advance my work and service within the Human Services field to continue to help and serve others. The big goal is to pursue my Masters and work within the education system with children. Walking across that stage will be one of the proudest moments of my life. More than anything, it would mean the world for my daughters to be there and witness this milestone. I would love them to see firsthand what dedication and determination can achieve. To help make this possible, I’ll be offering Sourdough Flight Boxes for $25, each with 4 personal loaves in different flavors of your choice (flavors are listed below).

Your support not only brings a variety of different and delicious bread to your table but also helps make a lifelong dream come true for me and a lasting memory for my girls. 💛🍞✈️

My venmo is and you can either order by messaging Baked on Eighth or sending a venmo and I can reach out for your bread.

And even if I don't reach my goal, I'll put it towards a celebration with my girls closer to home and you'll still get yummy bread! Thank you so much for reading and sharing, and always for your immense support.

With love and gratitude,
Kaytlyn

I have received an overwhelmingly (amazing) response for the Flights for a Flight sourdough boxes. I just wanted to take a second to express my gratitude and appreciation for all of the orders so far. I am working on taking down orders as they come in and coordinating delivery days.

Thank you to those who have ordered and shared my sale!! I still have a long way to go, but oooohhhhh we're halfway there 🎶 and guess who ordered her gap and gown this evening?
☝️ this gal.

With so much gratitude,
Your Bread Lady
