Learning the Hard Way

Sometimes, chasing a good opportunity means learning a hard lesson.
Back in February, I took over another bakery with hopes of growing Semper Pie. It was supposed to be a shared venture, but when the other baker made the very understandable decision to retire early, I suddenly found myself managing it all—on my own.
As a full-time mom and solo business owner, I believed I could juggle everything. But I took on too much. And if I’m being honest, I’ve been trying to push through something that just wasn’t sustainable.
So, with a heavy heart, I’ve made the decision to step away from the second location.
It’s not easy to admit. It’s not what I imagined. But it’s what I need—to care for my family, protect my health, and stay true to what Semper Pie is all about.
This isn’t a failure—it’s a reset. A lesson in growing thoughtfully, not just quickly.
To all of you who have supported me through every twist and turn: thank you. Your kindness, encouragement, and love for cheesecake mean everything. Even though the last few weeks I thought it was over, Semper Pie is still here. And I’m more committed than ever to bringing you the best of what I do—from the heart, and one cheesecake at a time.

We are excited to welcome three more small businesses to Boyertown, expanding from our existing location in West Reading. To ensure a smooth transition, we will be closed until Friday, giving everyone ample time to move in. It’s been a challenging few weeks, and I want to sincerely thank all the businesses here at Semper Pie for their support—you’ve been there to listen, offer comfort, and help me get back on my feet. Your kindness means the world to me.

CLOSED TODAY! Our whole building in Boyertown lost power last night and, well, let's just say our products didn't survive the dark ages. 😔
