We had the best time being part of Franklin Apothecary’s grand opening today! It was such a joy getting to bake for such a special event—if you haven’t stopped by yet, definitely add it to your list. It’s the sweetest little spot for all especially any herbalists and tea lover!

One of our favorite things is creating a menu that feels unique to each event, and this one was so fun to bring to life. We put together a spread of vanilla bean shortbread tea cookies, lemon poppy seed tea cakes, and honey lavender scones—all made with organic cane sugar, coconut sugar, and honey, with no preservatives, artificial flavors, or dyes.

We’re so excited heading into the warmer months—more baking, more fresh ideas, and more porch market days ahead. Can’t wait to share what’s coming next!

🤍🍪One whole year of Laymans Terms 🍪🤍

We can hardly believe it’s already been a year! What began as a small dream and a leap of faith has turned into something more special than we ever expected. This past year has been filled with growth, support, sweet moments, and a community that has truly made Laymans Terms what it is today!

Looking back, the little girl I was decorating sugar cookies with her nana would be absolutely amazed to see this today. Baking has always been more than recipes to us. It’s memories, love, and creating something that brings people together. Getting to turn that into a business has been such a blessing!

A special shoutout to John for always believing in this dream and helping in any way he could. Laymans Terms wouldn’t be what it is without that constant support behind the scenes!

With spring in full bloom, we’re getting everything ready for another wonderful year at Laymans Terms — more fresh bakes, porch stand mornings, conversations, and moments shared in community.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Year one was just the beginning!!

🐾We have a very special birthday today!! 🐾

Our chunky man turns 7 today! Anyone who’s met Grubby knows he’s honestly more like a dog than a cat. He’s always the first one at the door to greet new people and somehow always manages to find someone’s lap to nap on.

He keeps us company through long baking days and is definitely the unofficial mascot around here. Help us wish Grubby the happiest 7th birthday!! 🥳

With spring just around the corner, this weekend’s porch market feels like such a sweet reminder of the season ahead. Slower mornings, fresh air, and something homemade waiting on the porch.

I had so much fun making these mini lady bug cupcakes 🐞! They’re rich chocolate cake with vanilla bean buttercream and the sweetest little ladybug details. They’re the perfect bite-sized treat. These feel like the perfect little treat to welcome spring.
