PIEOWA will be on Iowa PBS on November 23! Mark your calendars!

Have you noticed I'm not posting as much lately? If you read my last newsletter (The World Needs More Pie on Substack), then you know I've been busy. But I'm also trying to spend less time scrolling as it's making me feel anxious. So I'm making an effort to spend more time outdoors and with people in-person. However, I want to let you know that PIEOWA has a few more screenings before the end of the year, AND it will be premiering on television -- on Iowa PBS -- which is a milestone for the film. Here's the schedule:

November 3 (6:30 PM) – Ogden, Utah, Weber County Library, Pleasant Valley branch.

November 14 (2 PM) – Ogden, Utah, Weber County Library, Pleasant Valley branch.

November 14 (10 AM) – Cooperstown, New York. Glimmerglass Film Days. Showing at Fenimore Farm & Country Village in the Main Barn/Louis C. Jones Center. Followed by Q&A with me and free pie.

November 23 (8 PM) – Television premiere on Iowa PBS. (Live broadcast only, not streaming.) Bonus that they put PIEOWA on the cover of their November magazine!

December 2 (2:30 PM) – Ames, Iowa, Ag Leadership Conference, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Beth will be giving a talk afterward, plus a pie reception.

If you aren't following Fritz Toffee and all their deliciousness, you absolutely should be. We usually had this treat in the shop over the holidays, but give them a follow to see where they will be this season. Trust me when I say they make perfect gifts!

Pie lovers-- I want to visit other pie shops! Where should I go?! For now, think about states bordering Iowa. Where should I eat pie in Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin?

Today I switched the Home Slice status on Google to "permanently closed." The vinyls at the pie shop are gone to make room for Twist Sips (YAY!) SO sad, but that may not be the end of pie from Home Slice!

So many of you have asked what's next. The truth is, I'm really not sure. It's tricky to step away from something you lived and breathed for six years. One thing is for sure-- I couldn't keep operating the same capacity I was.

Let's talk about what may be next! As the holiday season approaches, is there interest out there for online pie classes? Let's discuss it!

Happy Dolly Parton Day!

The shop is cleaned out and ready for Twist Sips to make their dreams come true! I haven't *really* been emotional through this process because I've been so busy checking things off a to do list, but today it hit me as we finished all the cleaning at the shop. Four years in the shop. Six years of making pie. It seems completely unreal that this year's holiday season won't be consumed with pie.

I need you to know how grateful I am for you. My life has been forever changed by this experience, your love and your constant support. The joy that's been celebrated through pie is immeasurable. Thank you.

A big thank you goes to my landlords Tyler and Ryan at Iowa Floor Covering for taking a chance on us 5 years ago and putting up with my nonsense all this time-- and Bryan and Chris for helping with all the things I didn't know how to do in the shop. Buy your flooring from them--- they are great people.

My neighboring businesses down in the Main Street 'hood deserve lots of love for always loving on Home Slice-- Reclaimed Rails Brewing Company, Off the Rails Quilting, Somewhere In The Middle Coffee Shop - Bondurant, BonduBikes, Little House On Main, Parkside Pizza Co.-- thanks for spreading the word about our little pie shop.

As we are cleaning out the shop, I may have over estimated the amount of some ingredients I needed. So we decided to give them back to the community that's given so much to us! Check out the food pantry at the Bondurant Community Library for a few baking specific items! 💙
