Sometimes the bake room projects have absolutely nothing to do with baking.

I picked up this Coca-Cola cooler because it gives me some much-needed extra cold storage. It works great…but that bright red Coca-Cola side wasn’t exactly fitting the look I wanted.

So, $20 worth of adhesive wallpaper later…

HELLO, GLOW UP.

Is it perfect? Nope.
Did I have any idea what I was doing when I started? Also nope.
Did I stand back afterward feeling ridiculously proud of myself? Absolutely.

One more little project checked off the list as I continue turning this space into the Side Hustle Sweets bake room I’ve been picturing in my head.

That red was RED.

Bad mood. Good scones.

Sometimes that’s the whole treatment plan.

Freshly baked, buttery, slightly sweet, and doing their absolute best to fix my attitude.

So far… the scones are winning.

I’m not a cake decorator. I’m a cake baker.

There’s a difference.

I’m here for the homemade layers, real ingredients, from-scratch frosting, and the kind of cake that makes you go back for “just one more little piece.”

Will it look like it belongs in a cake decorating competition? Probably not.

Will it taste like somebody’s grandma knew exactly what she was doing?

That’s the goal.

Pretty is nice. But around here, flavor gets top billing.

There are two kinds of bakers:

Those who can scoop cocoa powder neatly into a bowl…

And me.

Counter? Cocoa.
Floor? Cocoa.
Apron? Cocoa.
Somehow on the other side of the kitchen? Also cocoa.

I swear I measure it carefully. But the second that mixer turns on, cocoa powder chooses violence.

The good news? The mess usually means something chocolate is coming.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this.
