Rich, muddy, and decadently Southern—I can’t believe we’re already nearing April, and I almost let this one slip by. This Mississippi Mud Pie is a longtime family favorite, just the way Aunt Mae liked it: as dark and rich as the riverbanks after a spate.

A fun behind‑the‑scenes note: the chocolate tart shell crust had been waiting in my deep freezer since Christmas. I always knew this pie was its destiny—I just needed the time to share it.
