Five years ago I was thrown into a journey of epic proportions accused of alleged racism I weathered a storm of negative press and repercussions thrust upon me by our states largest public university and highest level administrators. I was at a crossroads and I had a choice to disappear quietly and try to recover the damage done or fight back and that’s what I did. A lifelong Democrat I always voted and although I considered myself moderate in beliefs I voted mostly Democrat down the ballot. I was terrified of the media and of people that I had heard about solely from the media were trouble, conservative and just scary, bad people. Charlie Kirk was one of those people and last year I realized he is none of those things. I had the pleasure of seeing him on campus of that same largest state university that cancelled me just a few months ago although it feels like forever right now. What I saw for myself was a guy that was highly intelligent and intellectual, respectful and fearless would debate anyone in front of large crowds. He had his opinions and views as we all do thanks to the first amendment which was the basis of my case, first amendment retaliation… I think today we saw that play out in real time at yet another university. I am so saddened and scared by what happened today. A father of young children my heart is heavy for his family and for all the students he reached. Rest in peace Charlie 🇺🇸
