Well… the Air Force has decided to shake things up for our family.
For those who may not know, I’m a military spouse, and this fall the Air Force is sending us to our next assignment. While we’re excited for our next adventure, it also means saying goodbye to the community we’ve grown to love here in Shreveport.
Because of our move, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to permanently close Cake Me Away.
This isn’t the announcement I ever imagined writing.
Five years ago, I started Cake Me Away with a love for creating beautiful desserts and the hope that people would trust me with their most special moments. Because of all of you, that little dream became so much more than I ever imagined. I’ve had the honor of creating cakes and cookies for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, graduations, retirements, and countless other celebrations. Being a small part of your memories has truly been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
As much as I would love to reopen one last time, this move has come with a very short timeline and an even longer to-do list. Between preparing our home to sell, packing up our lives, and getting everything in order for our next assignment, I know I simply can’t give Cake Me Away the time and heart it deserves. As much as I wanted one last season of baking with all of you, I’ve decided not to reopen after my hiatus so I can focus on getting my family settled for the journey ahead
To every customer who placed an order, shared my business, recommended me to friends and family, left encouraging words, or simply believed in me… thank you. You allowed me to turn a passion into something I looked forward to every single day. You trusted me with some of the happiest moments in your lives, and that is something I’ll never forget.
Closing Cake Me Away is truly heartbreaking. There are definitely tears as I write this, because this business has been such a huge part of my life and my identity for the past five years. But more than the sadness, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude.
Thank you for welcoming me into your lives, for supporting a small business, and for allowing me to create something special for your families. The cakes and cookies may stay here in Louisiana, but the memories will travel with me wherever the Air Force sends us next.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making Cake Me Away so much more than a business. It has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
With all my love and gratitude,
Veronica ❤️
