LINDA G. MYERS ROBERTS
December 24, 1949 – April 27, 2026
Linda G. Myers Roberts entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 27, 2026, following a long battle with numerous medical challenges. She is now free from pain and at peace.
Linda was born the first child of Ralph and Betty Ellen (Lovell) Myers and was raised in Brasstown, North Carolina, where she lived until graduating from Hayesville High School. Her brother, Dennis Myers, joined the family a few years later, followed by her sister, Rebecca (Myers) Brown.
The Myers family operated a dairy and cattle farm, and Linda grew up learning the value of hard work—helping in the hay fields, dairy barn, and wherever she was needed. While she knew farm life well, her greatest joy later became cooking and baking, lovingly feeding family members, neighbors, church friends, and anyone who crossed her path. She was known for both her generous hospitality and her cheerful reminders: “Don’t touch the food — use tongs!”
While working for Southern Bell, Linda met Fred Stanley Roberts, who had just completed active duty with the U.S. Navy. Stanley later recalled that after only five dates, he was sent away on a three-month tour of duty. During that time, he prayed faithfully and became certain God was leading him to Linda. On the night of his return, during a visit to Folly Beach, he proposed marriage.
Before meeting Linda’s parents, she insisted Stanley shave his moustache to make a good first impression. When they shared news of their engagement, Linda’s father asked a simple but meaningful question: “Have you prayed about this? What did the Lord say?” Stanley promised he would love, care for, and provide for Linda for the rest of their lives—a promise he faithfully kept.
Linda and Stanley were married in Gainesville, Georgia, by Linda’s grandfather, Rev. A. B. Lovell, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. They began married life in a small home on Kendrick Road in Brookhaven and later moved to Lawrenceville, where they raised their children, Tricia (Roberts) Hutchcraft and Doug Roberts, while Stanley worked for Cotton States Insurance in Atlanta.
Linda lived a life of tireless service. She provided childcare for many families, operated a successful house-cleaning business, managed a catering service, and devoted countless hours to volunteering. The family eventually moved to Blairsville, where Stanley opened a Cotton States Insurance agency.
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ defined Linda’s life. Influenced by the strong faith of her grandparents, parents, and church community, she continually shared Scripture, encouraged others in faith, and filled her home with worship and song. Her life reflected a steadfast devotion to Christ and a desire to shine His light to everyone she met. She intentionally devoted time, scripture, and wisdom to her grandsons who will graduate high school in a few days. She was so excited about their plans for the future, both interested in aviation, although on separate levels.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Ellen (Lovell) Myers. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred S. Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Billy Hutchcraft; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Melissa Roberts; twin grandsons, Cameron and Casey Roberts; her father, Ralph L. Myers; brother, Dennis (Patsy) Myers; sister, Rebecca Myers (Aud) Brown; special aunt, Gwen (Lovell) Gunnells; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Scripture filled Linda’s home and, most importantly, her heart. Among her favorite passages were:
Ephesians 3:20–21
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Isaiah 40:31
“But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.”
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Blairsville, Georgia. Visitation with family and friends will take place Friday evening May 8th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home.
