šŸ’MARRIAGE MINUTE

Laughter has rescued our marriage almost as often as love has.

We've had quite a few people ask, ā€œHow does this contest actually work?ā€ So today we're pulling back the curtain a little... and sharing why we entered in the first place.

(Spoiler alert: We had no idea we'd still be here! šŸ˜‚šŸŽ‰)

Tim and I entered this contest to have fun, stretch and focus on the beauty of our relationship.

We have discovered WE are worth celebrating... not because we're perfect, but because we've stayed.

Each post allows us to share a little Marriage Minute, and if one small thought encourages another couple to love each other a little better, then we've already won.

There's another reason I myself am enjoying this journey...

At 72, I'm learning things that used to intimidate me... creating Reels, using Canva, experimenting with AI, recording videos, and stretching myself in ways I never imagined. Every post teaches me something new.

We also love that this contest supports two charities that are meaningful to us: The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, contributing to families facing hunger, and Oceana, working to protect our oceans for future generations.

Now... for those wondering how the contest works...

We are #2 in our group only, not overall. The contest began with more than 160,000 couples, divided into about 2,400 groups. Today there are still around 34,000 couples competing, and we are #2 in our group heading into the Top 10 run off.

Next week the field narrows to the Top 10, then the Top 5, and finally just one couple from each group advances to the semifinals.

We've been holding steady at #2, and eventually we'll need to move into the top spot to continue into the semi finals. Every free vote has mattered, and as the contest narrows, every donation will have an even greater impact.

Every time we see another vote come in, we're reminded that someone took a few moments out of their day to cheer us on. That is humbling to us. Please know we don't take that for granted. We are genuinely touched by your kindness.

We truly believe people are basically good. We believe most of us genuinely enjoy encouraging others and celebrating their victories.

You've done that for us.

Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for cheering us on. Most of all, thank you for reminding us that kindness is still alive and well!

Over the past few weeks, while in Washington, I’ve had the honor of standing before two Weight Watchers groups and offering a glimpse into my upcoming book, "Half My Size, Twice the Woman."

And something in me came alive.

I like writing… the quiet, reflective way of putting words on paper.
But this?
Standing in a room, feeling the energy shift, watching someone’s eyes fill with tears as something finally clicks…

It does more than light me up.
It sets me on fire.

There is nothing like witnessing that moment
when someone who felt invisible begins to feel seen. When someone who feels stuck starts to believe, even just a little, that maybe it’s not too late.

And I realized… this is the chapter I’m in now.

A chapter of boldness.

No more shrinking.
No more softening my voice to make others comfortable.
No more holding back the very thing that could set someone else free.

I will be loud in the ways that matter.
I will speak the truth of where I’ve been and what it took to rise.
I will let my light shine... fully, unapologetically.

But not for attention…
For connection.

For the one woman sitting in the back of the room, barely holding it together.
For the one who doesn’t want to get out of bed.
For the one who believes her time has passed.
For the one who has lost her voice.

Because that was me.
For so many years, that was me.

And if I can reach even one person with my story and she begins to feel that small flicker inside, whisper,
ā€œMaybe there is still hope for meā€¦ā€

Then I will keep showing up.
Boldly.
Loudly.
Faithfully.

This is not just about weight; it is about everything that holds a woman back.

And it is never too late…
to take the next step.
